OVA
Description
Nuku Nuku, whose given name in this series is Atsuko Higuchi, is the central character of the OVA series All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku DASH!. She is an advanced prototype android, referred to as an androrobot, that escaped from the Mishima Corporation’s research facilities. In this alternate-universe reimagining, she has a more mature appearance, appearing to be around nineteen years old, with very light green hair that is often mistaken for blonde and golden eyes. She also has actual blood circulating in her body, unlike earlier versions of the character. When the story begins, she suffers from selective amnesia and cannot recall her past, though she remembers her nickname Nuku Nuku. She is taken in by the Natsume family after being found by the son, Ryunosuke, and is introduced to the household as Atsuko Higuchi, a young woman with no memory.
Nuku Nuku’s personality is gentle, warm, and instinctively protective, especially toward those she comes to care about. Her cat-like nature is reflected in her actions and instincts; she is nurturing and maternal, as seen when she adopts a litter of orphaned kittens and cares for them. Despite her amnesia, she shows a sincere desire to help others and avoid causing trouble for the Natsume family. Her primary motivation is to protect life, and that drive unlocks her true abilities. When the need to defend someone arises, Nuku Nuku can enter a tactical form, in which her full androbot powers are unleashed. In this form, she gains vastly enhanced strength, speed, and durability, and the civilians in the city refer to her as Super Dynamite Girl.
Throughout the series, Nuku Nuku balances her everyday life as a seemingly normal young woman with the constant threat of being recaptured by Mishima Corporation, which deploys a variety of military hardware and specialized agents against her. Her key relationships include a growing romantic bond with Ryunosuke Natsume, who is unaware that the Atsuko he loves and the mysterious super-powered girl he occasionally encounters are the same person until the series’ conclusion. She is also connected to Kyusaku Natsume, a professor and friend of her original creator, Professor Higuchi, who helps her understand her own nature. Her antagonist is often the Mishima Corporation, led by its young president, and she clashes with the henchwomen Arisa Sono and Kyouko Ariyoshi.
Nuku Nuku’s character development centers on the recovery of her lost memories and the full understanding of her identity as an androbot. As the story progresses, she regains her past piece by piece, and by the end of the series her memories are restored, granting her a more complete sense of self. Her notable abilities include superhuman physical capabilities, the tactical transformation that maximizes her combat potential, and an intuitive, feline-like agility and reflexes. Despite her mechanical origins, she exhibits strong human emotions and a deep commitment to protecting the people and creatures she loves.
