Description
Chiomapp is a character from the 1985 Japanese animated feature film The Dagger of Kamui. She is a young woman of the Ainu people, residing in the region of Ezo, which is known today as Hokkaido. Her name is written in Japanese as チオマップ.

Chiomapp lives as a caretaker for an elderly philosopher and scholar named Andō Shōzan, who has been exiled to Ezo. Her background is tied to the Ainu community, and she provides care for the scholar in his place of banishment. In terms of appearance, Chiomapp is known to have blue eyes.

The character’s personality is defined by deep loyalty and quiet strength. When the protagonist, a young ninja named Jiro, arrives wounded at Andō Shōzan’s home, Chiomapp provides care and support. Her primary role in the story is as a supporting character and ally to Jiro during his time in Ezo. She is closely connected to Andō Shōzan, for whom she is a caregiver and household companion, and to Jiro, whom she helps.

The central development for Chiomapp is tied to the tragic fate of those who assist the protagonist. After the antagonist Tenkai sends three assassins to eliminate Jiro’s allies, Andō Shōzan is killed during the attack. Following his death, Chiomapp is confronted by Tenkai himself. Rather than betray Jiro by revealing his whereabouts, she chooses to take her own life, demonstrating her unwavering loyalty and courage in the face of a powerful enemy. Her abilities are not those of a fighter, but rather her skills in caregiving and her resolute determination, which ultimately leads to her sacrifice.
