TV-Series
Description
Ran is one of the two sisters of the protagonist Sue in the television anime series Sue Cat. She is an anthropomorphic cat, as are all the characters in the series, and she belongs to a trio of sisters that later performs together under the group name Sue Cat. Along with her other sister Miki, Ran is part of the family that Sue, who has lost her memory in an accident, is seeking to find again. The three sisters are modeled on the Japanese idol trio Candies, which was active in the second half of the 1970s, with Ran serving as the counterpart of Candies member Ran Itō; consistent with this inspiration, the image song material gives the three cats a mother named Candy.

In the story, Sue's decision to become a professional singer is closely connected to her hope of reuniting with her separated family, including Ran. Ran's importance in the narrative grows as Sue works through the challenges of building a singing career and eventually succeeds in locating her sisters. The reunion with Ran and Miki is a turning point, because the three sisters then form their own unit under the name Sue Cat and begin performing together as a group. Ran therefore functions both as a personal goal for Sue and as a key figure in the formation of the titular act.

Her notable abilities center on performance, specifically her singing within the Sue Cat trio. Her key relationships are with Sue and Miki, with whom she shares both a family bond and a professional identity as a performer. Her character is defined primarily by her place within this sister trio, and her personal qualities are conveyed through her participation in the group and her connection to her siblings. Within the series, Ran follows an arc from separation to reunion: she begins as one of the family members lost to Sue, and by the end she has rejoined her sister and become part of an established performing unit, completing the family Sue set out to restore.
