Description
Kokoro no boss is a recurring character in the manga and anime series Mōretsu Atarō. His background is deliberately ambiguous: he possesses a prominent tail, yet whether he is a human or a tanuki, or some combination of the two, is never resolved and remains an enduring mystery. He presents himself as a gang boss, often accompanied by his two loyal but put-upon henchmen, Kopun A and Kopun B. Despite his intimidating appearance, his personality is defined by a profound emotional sensitivity. He is deeply attached to flowers and small animals, and he frequently displays a gentle, sentimental nature that contradicts his tough exterior. His motivations are driven by a strong code of loyalty and sentiment, and he can be moved to act by affection, beauty, or a sense of duty. In the story, he functions primarily as a comedic antagonist or a rival figure, most notably to Butamatsu and his pig gang, but he is not genuinely malicious and often shows kindness. He also serves as a fatherly figure of sorts to a chick named Piyoko, whom he dotes on excessively. Over the course of the series, his character highlights the contrast between a fearsome facade and a soft heart, though he undergoes little permanent change. His notable abilities include an absurdly strong digestive system, and he speaks with characteristic catchphrases such as Pokkun pokkun and phrases ending in no kokoro.
