Description
Horngeist, whose name is sometimes written as Horn Geist, is a recurring antagonist in the anime The Brave Fighter Exkizer. He serves as one of the Space Pirate Geisters, a group of intergalactic thieves who operate under the command of their leader, Dino Geist. His alternate form, which he can assume at will, is that of a Triceratops, a dinosaur known for its large skull frill and three prominent horns.

In terms of personality, Horngeist is portrayed as clumsy, brutish, and stubborn. His actions on missions are often marred by mistakes and a general lack of finesse, leading to frequent failures. This personality puts him in a similar category as his fellow Geister, Armor Geist, with whom he shares a tendency to bicker and argue. As a member of the Geisters, his primary motivation is to follow Dino Geists orders, which typically involve stealing valuable objects that his leader considers treasure. The Geisters generally approach their heists with a specific method; they first deploy a bug-like machine to fuse with a nearby structure, creating a giant monster to cause chaos and serve as a distraction before making an attempt to steal their target.

Within the storys narrative, Horngeist acts as a recurring henchman and obstacle for the heroic Kaisers. Despite his and his comrades persistent efforts, their schemes are routinely thwarted by the Space Police Kaisers, leading to frequent retreats. Horngeists key relationships are with the other members of the Geisters. He is often seen alongside his teammates, including Armor Geist, Ptera Geist, and Thunder Geist, as well as the mysterious Trader. The four main Geisters are capable of performing combination techniques. Horngeist can combine with Armor Geist through a process called the 2-Unit Combination to form a larger, more powerful robot named Hormor, with Horngeist typically forming the upper body. Additionally, all four Geisters can unite via the 4-General Combination to form the colossal and powerful Mad Geister. In this formation, Horngeist serves as the left arm. However, this combination is highly unstable due to the Geisters inability to work together in a coordinated fashion. In one notable instance, their constant infighting and reckless attacks caused the combined Mad Geister to stumble and inadvertently free the very Kaisers they had captured.

Throughout the series, there is little development in Horngeists character, as he remains a consistently bumbling but threatening presence. By the conclusion of the story, he, along with Ptera Geist, Armor Geist, Thunder Geist, and Trader, is captured by the Kaisers. Regarding his abilities, Horngeist is heavily armed, with numerous weapons mounted across his body, including electric charges, missiles, bombs, and machine guns. In his Triceratops dinosaur mode, he gains the specific ability to tunnel through the ground at high speed, allowing for surprise attacks or quick getaways. His head cannons from his beast mode are also retained as weapons for use in his combined forms, such as Mad Geister.
