Description
Makoto Kurita is a student in Class 5-3 at Dōmori Elementary School and appears as a supporting character in the film Jigoku Sensei Nube: Kyōfu no Natsu Yasumi! Ayashi no Umi no Densetsu. He is a boy with a bowl-shaped haircut and is known for being the most timid and emotional member of his class. At the start of the series, he reacts to supernatural phenomena with fear, often running and screaming. However, under the guidance of his teacher Nube and with the support of his friends, he gradually learns to confront his fears and mature. Despite his small stature and childlike hobbies—such as watching sentai series and keeping pets—he possesses a kind and gentle nature that allows him to remain cheerful even in threatening situations. His pure heart also makes him more receptive to benevolent spirits.

In this film, Makoto joins his classmates and Nube on a summer trip to a southern island. Along with the other students, he is drawn to the mysterious girl Nagisa and accompanies her to the nearby Spider Island, unaware that she is the sea spider of local legend. When the sea spider reveals its true form and attacks, Makoto is caught in the danger alongside his friends. His role in the story is that of one of the endangered students whom Nube must protect and rescue. The experience pushes him to face a terrifying supernatural threat, contributing to his ongoing growth in courage. He does not possess any special abilities; his strength lies in his loyalty to his friends and his ability to keep a positive outlook, which helps the group remain united during the crisis. Throughout the film, his key relationships are with his classmates—especially Hiroshi Tateno and Kyouko Inaba—and his teacher Nube, whom he trusts completely.
