Description
Fuwa is a fairy-like being crafted by the twelve Star Princesses as their final defense against the Notraiders. Her original name, Spegasus Pulalan Mofpit Prinsewink, is overshadowed by her preferred name "Fuwa," bestowed by Hoshina Hikaru. This name draws from the Japanese onomatopoeia "fuwafuwa" (soft and fluffy), mirroring her appearance.
In her primary state, Fuwa resembles a diminutive mouse-like creature with fluffy white fur. Her deep blue eyes feature light blue and gold star motifs, pink eyebrows, and rosy cheeks dotted with yellow stars. A prominent yellow star adorns her tail, while her round ears display pink and blue hues with gold rings. Tiny wings protrude from her back. Following the revival of all Star Princesses, she permanently transforms into a unicorn form: a light blue triangular horn crowned by a golden tiara and fuchsia star, hooves, pink wings, and a wavy mane blending pink, sky blue, and lemon yellow. This form adds eyelashes to her eyes and pink stars on her cheeks. Previously, she temporarily assumed Zodiac-inspired forms—like an Aries ram, Cancer crab, or Pisces mermaid—each reflecting distinct traits of their constellation.
Fuwa embodies infantile curiosity, cheerfulness, and innocence. Her naivety and impulse to befriend strangers often endanger her and the Cures, as threats easily frighten her into loud distress. She exhibits gluttony, especially for star-shaped donuts, and impulsive silverline catnip consumption triggers hiccups that spawn temporary duplicates. Maturing into her unicorn form fosters heightened courage and self-sacrificing resolve to protect the universe.
She shares her closest bonds with the five Cures, whom she sees as guardians, and Prunce, an alien she treats as an older brother. Her deepest connection is with Hikaru, who renamed her and comforts her during fears.
Fuwa's existence began when the Star Princesses forged her during the Notraiders' assault on the Star Palace. Sent to Earth with Prunce, she met Hikaru and formed an instant bond. Throughout her journey, she aided the Cures by shifting into Zodiac forms to locate and revive the scattered Star Princesses. After their restoration, consuming a special donut evolved her into her unicorn state—still not fully matured. In the finale, she absorbed the Cures' collective Twinkle Imagination to confront the Ophiuchus Princess, dissolving into energy. Later reborn in her original form with fragmented memories, she retained only recognition of Hikaru. Fifteen years onward, renewed universal imagination partially restored her teleportation skills.
Fuwa's powers stem from the Star Princesses. Initially, she senses and releases sealed Star Princesses, creates interdimensional warp holes, and grants the Cures transformation abilities through protection vows. Her acute smell detects disguised allies. As a unicorn, she channels the twelve constellations' power through her horn to enable the Cures' "Star Twinkle Imagination" attack and gains teleportation—though inexperience causes erratic destinations. Silverline catnip remains a vulnerability, inducing disruptive cloning.
In the film "Hoshi no Uta ni Omoi wo Komete," Fuwa joins the Cures in an adventure involving a celestial entity named UMA—unrelated to her—reinforcing her role in cosmic travel and emotional bonds through song. During the climax, her abilities help stabilize UMA and avert Earth's annihilation.
