Description
Iroha Senju is a sixteen-year-old second-year high school student and a member of the theater troupe Gekidan Denki. She comes from the prestigious Senju family, a name well-known in the world of stage performance, and is the younger sister of Koyomi Senju.
Unlike her family's traditional connection to the stage, Iroha is a passionate and self-described otaku with a deep love for anime and manga. Her hobbies include cosplay and reading comics, and she has an extensive knowledge of makeup, which she uses to bring her favorite characters to life. Her interest in performing was not initially drawn from classical theater but from a desire to be part of Gekidan Denki's unique stage shows, which she saw as an extension of her cosplay hobby.
In terms of personality, Iroha is generally calm and gentle, but she possesses a deeply passionate heart that ignites when she is excited about something she loves. Once her enthusiasm catches fire, she can become impulsive and energetic, often going on excited rants about her interests, a trait she shares with her sister Koyomi, who is more reserved. Despite her family's supportive nature, her relationship with her famous sister is complicated; they do not publicly acknowledge their sibling bond to avoid the pressure of Koyomi's fame, and their private conversations are often described as stiff and awkward.
Iroha's primary motivation is to become a World Dai Star, a title given to the pinnacle of stage actors. This goal is particularly challenging for her because she is the only main character who lacks a Sense, a special, almost supernatural ability that many other performers possess. Despite this significant handicap, she is determined to succeed on her own terms, driven by her love for performance as a form of expression.
Her role in the story is centered on this struggle. She joins Gekidan Denki to chase her dream, working part-time at a maid cafe to fund her expensive cosplay hobby, as her family insists she be self-reliant. Her key relationships include her friendship with Shiromaru Mito, whom she bonded with over their shared love of the Magical Girl Karyuu movie. She also has a deep connection to her older sister Koyomi; watching Magical Girl Karyuu pulled Iroha out of a depression she fell into after quitting acting as a child due to her lack of Sense. Her character development involves transforming from a lost individual who felt inadequate compared to her family into a focused and ambitious actress forging her own path, using her otaku knowledge and cosplay skills as unique strengths rather than a distraction.
Her notable abilities lie not in any supernatural Sense, but in her practical performance-related skills. She is an expert in cosplay and makeup application, allowing her to physically transform into characters with high precision. She combines this with her deep knowledge of anime and manga storylines to bring a unique perspective to her acting. Her primary strength is her willpower and refusal to give up, even when faced with the reality that she lacks the innate talents of her peers.
