Description
Akane Shinoda is a first-year high school student and flute player in the wind ensemble club, initially mentored by senior Konomi Fujimiya. Shy and reserved around strangers, she confides in Konomi about her nervousness performing before unfamiliar audiences. To ease this anxiety, Konomi brings Akane to Asahigaoka, where she interacts with Renge Miyauchi. Though unsettled at first by Renge's childish behavior, Akane participates in joint recorder sessions with both, finding comfort in making music within this relaxed setting. These experiences foster gradual personal growth, helping her shed timidity and become more outgoing through Konomi's guidance and Asahigaoka's supportive environment.

Akane maintains deep respect and gratitude toward Konomi, bonding over shared flute practices. She also forges a friendship with Renge, treasuring a cocklebur gift from their meetings. Physically, she has bob-cut brown hair and yellowish-brown eyes, wearing her school uniform with thigh-high socks. Notably, she fears frogs and dislikes the infantile nickname "Aka-chan" from Renge, who instead uses "Akane-chin." Her surname combines "dwarf bamboo" (篠) and "field" (田), while her given name potentially references the madder plant. Her confidence visibly strengthens across fewer narrative episodes, culminating in satisfied moments after collaborative music-making in Asahigaoka.
