OVA
Description
Hajime Yamamoto is one of the two main protagonists of the story and a high school classmate of his friend, Koji Watanabe. Together, they are deeply immersed in the Japanese lowrider car culture, known as shakotan. Their days are spent cruising in their distinctively customized Toyota Soarer 2800GT, which is white with blue and pink accents and displays the number sixty-seven decals on its hood and doors. Beyond this shared vehicle, Hajime also personally owns a Toyota Celsior. His life revolves around the world of customized cars, where he and Koji frequently find themselves in various forms of trouble, including running from the police, clashing with bosozoku biker gangs and chinpira thugs, and pursuing romantic interests with women they encounter. His role in the story is defined by these adventures and his interactions with other characters in the underground car scene, such as engaging in drag races against Akira, the driver of a highly tuned Nissan Fairlady Z known as the Akira Z. Hajime does not appear to undergo a significant personal transformation or development within the narrative, instead serving as a consistent embodiment of the carefree, rebellious, and car-obsessed youth culture of the era. Apart from his driving abilities, which allow him to participate in street racing and evade police, he has no particularly notable special abilities, with his identity and lifestyle being almost entirely centered on his passion for his vehicles and the shakotan subculture.
