Bin Shimada

Description
Bin Shimada is a Japanese actor, voice actor, and narrator born on November 20, 1954, in Niigata, Japan. A graduate of Daito Bunka University, he began his career in 1978 and is currently affiliated with the talent management firm Aoni Production. He is known for his high-pitched and clear vocal quality, which allows him to portray a wide range of characters. He is particularly skilled at playing cool, calculated antagonist roles, but is equally adept at voicing energetic young boys, cheerful comedic characters, and mature figures.

Shimada is closely associated with the "Eldran" series of mecha anime, having voiced the titular robot, Eldran, in Zettai Muteki Raijin-Oh, Genki Bakuhatsu Ganbaruger, and Nekketsu Saikyō Go-Saurer. He also provided voices for the human pilots in these series, such as Rikiya Ryūzaki in Ganbaruger and Kinta in Go-Saurer. Another notable aspect of his career is taking over roles from fellow voice actors who have passed away. Following the deaths of Takeshi Aono and Ginzō Matsuo, Shimada has succeeded them in several prominent roles, including Hemu Hemu in Nintama Rantarō, Biff in s-CRY-ed, Kami and Babidi in the Dragon Ball series, Gengai Hiraga in Gintama, and Tomozo Sakura in Chibi Maruko-chan.

Shimada's most globally recognized role is the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly in the Dragon Ball franchise. He first voiced the character in the 1990s film trilogy Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan, Dragon Ball Z: Broly – Second Coming, and Dragon Ball Z: Bio-Broly. He later returned to reprise a reimagined version of the character to widespread acclaim in the 2018 feature film Dragon Ball Super: Broly and has continued in the role in subsequent projects like Super Dragon Ball Heroes.

His filmography is extensive, featuring key roles in numerous long-running and influential anime series. In Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, he played the charismatic and manipulative antagonist Paptimus Scirocco. He has contributed multiple voices to One Piece, including the villainous kings Wapol and Foxy, as well as Shimotsuki Yasuie. Other notable credits include the ninja Yuda in Fist of the North Star, the God Warrior Silver Heart in Mysterious Joker, Ken Nakajima in You're Under Arrest, Charles de Etouard in The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, Stick Bernard in Genesis Climber Mospeada, Zack from the Dead or Alive video game series, and Ryu in the original Street Fighter II. His career remains active, with recent and upcoming roles including Pernida Parnkgjas in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Yasuji Kumagaya in the film Drifting Home, and Chidori Amagami in Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister.
