Description
The character known as Kamen Rider Super-1 is the protagonist of the 1980 to 1981 live-action tokusatsu series of the same name. The person behind the mask is Kazuya Oki, a 27-year-old researcher working for the International Space Development Program in the United States. Unlike many of his predecessors who were forcibly turned into cyborgs against their will, Kazuya stands out for having volunteered for the rigorous cybernetic surgery. His primary motivation was a peaceful and aspirational one: to become an astronaut capable of surviving the harsh conditions of outer space without the need for a bulky suit, thereby aiding in humanity's expansion beyond Earth.

Following a successful operation, he was given the codename Super-1. However, before he could embark on his space mission, the research base was attacked by a terrorist organization known as the Dogma Kingdom. The attack resulted in the deaths of the scientists who had become his mentors, leaving Kazuya as the sole survivor. Driven by a desire for justice and to avenge this loss, Kazuya dedicated his new abilities to protecting Earth.

In terms of personality, Kazuya is depicted as a bright, positive, and hot-blooded individual. He carries a strong sense of purpose for the future of mankind and does not exhibit the typical anguish or self-doubt often associated with being a modified human. While he is a capable scientist, suggesting a high level of intelligence, he also possesses a somewhat naive and overly earnest side. His character is defined by a strong will and a firm belief in his mission, which allows him to overcome tremendous pain and fear through sheer mental discipline.

Kazuya's role in the story evolves through a two-part conflict. For the first half of the series, he battles the Dogma Kingdom, and after successfully dismantling it, he immediately faces a new threat called the Jin Dogma. He is a lone warrior for much of his journey, notably becoming the first Kamen Rider in the series to completely destroy his enemies without directly summoning前辈前辈 for assistance. He is supported by key allies, including Master Genkai, a martial arts expert who trains him in the Sekishin Shaolin Fist, a discipline that becomes fundamental to his fighting style and his ability to control his transformation. Another important figure is his fellow disciple, Benkei, who ultimately sacrifices himself to protect Kazuya in a manner reminiscent of his namesake. Later in the series, as the tone shifts to appeal to a younger audience, he is assisted by a group of children known as the Junior Riders.

Kazuya undergoes significant development throughout his journey. Initially, he could not transform at will and required the external aid of a computer and Professor Henry. Through rigorous training in martial arts, he learned to focus his mind to the point where he could activate his transformation belt, the Cyclode, by himself. After defeating both the Dogma and Jin Dogma organizations, he finally achieves his original dream of venturing into outer space. In later crossover productions, he returns to Earth to ally with other Kamen Riders, using his experience and power to mentor newer heroes and fight alongside them in larger conflicts.

As Kamen Rider Super-1, Kazuya possesses a formidable array of abilities. He stands 185 centimeters tall and weighs 80 kilograms. His suit was specifically designed as a space cyborg, granting him high resistance to extreme temperatures, magic, and sorcery. He has a built-in anti-gravity device that allows him to jump up to 100 meters and amplify his kicking power to seemingly infinite levels. However, his cybernetic body requires regular maintenance, making him ill-suited for extremely prolonged battles without access to a repair machine.

His most famous equipment is the Five Hands system, a set of interchangeable glove attachments on his belt. The default Super Hands allow him to deliver a thirty-ton punch. He can swap these for the red Power Hands to lift fifty tons or deliver a three-hundred-ton Megaton Punch, the blue Elek Hands to channel up to 300 million volts of electricity, the green Hot/Cold Hands to fire flames from his right hand and freezing gas from his left, and the gold Radar Hands to launch radar-guided missiles. For mobility, he rides two machines: the V-Machine, which can transform into a jet, and the Blue Version, a bike designed for rough terrain. His primary finisher is the Super Rider Moon Surface Kick, a complex aerial somersault kick, but his repertoire includes dozens of other named martial arts techniques and kicks.
