Description
Unchou Kan'u stands as a central figure from the "Ikkitousen" series, embodying the legacy of the Chinese general Guan Yu. As his successor, she bears the title "Goddess of War" and wields his legendary Green Dragon Crescent Blade, a weapon intrinsically linked to her chi and noted for its immense power. This blade was shattered during a clash involving Gentoku Ryuubi's dragon but later restored. Physically 19 years old, she possesses a tall, muscular frame at 172 cm with tanned skin. Her defining feature is exceptionally long purple or black hair reaching her feet, typically tied at the ends and styled to partially cover one eye. Her eyes appear as light blue-grey or red across different adaptations. She consistently wears the Seito Academy uniform: a revealing white sailor-style blouse with blue stripes, a yellow ribbon, a blue skirt, white socks, and brown shoes, with the shortened hem leaving her midriff and back exposed.

Her core personality revolves around unwavering loyalty, particularly to Gentoku Ryuubi, whom she protects as both guardian and confidante. This devotion drives her to endure capture, interrogation, and physical suffering to ensure Gentoku's safety. She takes pride in her martial prowess and inherited legacy, engaging in relentless training to uphold her reputation as the "God of Martial Arts." While often lenient with Gentoku's whims, she displays a strict, disciplined side in leadership. Over time, she reveals emotional vulnerability, including unspoken romantic feelings for Gentoku, acknowledged privately and occasionally expressed to others like Koukin Shuyu.

Her story arc traverses numerous conflicts, beginning with dominance in the Great Fighters Tournament where she defeats opponents like Ryomou Shimei and Hakufu Sonsaku before withdrawing due to a broken arm. Later seasons present moral and physical trials, including defecting to Kyosho under Moutoku Sousou's control to shield Gentoku. Captured and tortured at Kyosho, she withstands psychological interrogation, withholding critical information about the Dragon Jade. She later breaks free, revealing she had voluntarily suppressed her strength. Ultimately returning to Seito, she participates in pivotal battles such as the Battle of Red Cliffs, defeating foes like Bunken Gakushin and Chuukou Kyocho to defend Gentoku. Her journey concludes with her accepting a supportive role, enabling Gentoku's growth while remaining her protector.

Her combat abilities are extensive, emphasizing mastery of the Green Dragon Crescent Blade for slashing and stabbing, alongside proficiency in swordsmanship and hand-to-hand combat. She commands overwhelming chi, enabling enhanced strength, agility, and acrobatic feats like leaping great distances and felling large trees with single strikes. Her tactical intellect and leadership make her an effective commander, though she struggles with improvisation during unforeseen battlefield shifts. Notably resilient, she fights effectively despite severe injuries, such as defeating Hakufu in her dragon state while using only one arm. Weaknesses include a fear of supernatural entities, emotional impulsivity, and a workaholic tendency that strains her wellbeing.

Her character development shifts from overconfidence to humility, particularly after defeat by Genchoku Jousho challenges her self-perceived invincibility. Her relationship with Gentoku evolves from dutiful protection to deep emotional attachment, including fantasies of intimacy. She also forges bonds with allies like Ekitoku Chouhi and Shiryuu Chou'un, collectively forming Gentoku's "Five Tiger Generals." In the "Western Wolves" OVA, she continues her protective role amid Kyosho's aggression toward Nanyo, reinforcing her enduring commitment to Gentoku's safety.
