Description
Pam-Pam is a small, dog-like Energy Fairy of Bread who comes from CooKingdom, the magical cooking realm featured in the Delicious Party Precure story. In human terms she is said to be about four or five years old, and she is one of the fairies sent to the human world to help protect the joy of sharing food. She is paired with the girl Kokone Fuwa and becomes the partner who grants Kokone the power to transform into the Pretty Cure known as Cure Spicy.
In personality, Pam-Pam is precocious, playful, and very fond of attention. She loves receiving compliments and tends to become overconfident and carried away whenever she is praised. She is outgoing and cheerful, and she clearly enjoys being admired by others. Despite her flashy, boastful manner, she also has an innocent and childlike side, and she is in fact considered the most knowledgeable and dependable of the three Energy Fairies. Her knowledge includes a strong understanding of the Heart Cure Watch and other items used by the team, and she often serves as the one who explains how things work, as well as a bridge between the Pretty Cure and the small dish fairies known as Recipepes. A distinctive feature of her speech is that she ends her sentences with the verbal tic pamu.
Her main role in the story is tied to Kokone. When the two share their power, Pam-Pam enters what is called her sandwich form, which is what enables Kokone to transform into Cure Spicy. She is deeply devoted to Kokone and cares for her greatly; in one episode she follows Kokone into school out of worry and ends up being mistaken for a monster while trying to hide from the other students. Like the other Energy Fairies, the heart marking on her neck lights up when a Recipepe is stolen by the Bundoru Gang, alerting the team that something is wrong. She is also able to take on a human appearance when bathed in the light of the Hokahoka Hearts.
Her relationships with the other fairies are warm but not always perfectly smooth. She is close with Kome-Kome and Mem-Mem, her fellow Energy Fairies, and she lives with Kokone after becoming her partner. In one episode, an argument with Kome-Kome upsets her enough that she runs off into town on her own and crosses paths with an enemy, showing that her feelings can be hurt despite her confident exterior. These moments of friction are resolved as the group grows closer, and she remains a loyal and affectionate companion to the whole team.
Over the course of the series, Pam-Pam develops from a praise-loving fairy into a more dependable partner while keeping her cheerful character intact. Later episodes reveal that, despite her youthful appearance, she has actually lived much longer than her apparent age suggests. She also plays a main role in the movie release connected to the series, including the animated short Watashi dake no Oko-sama Lunch, where her bond with Kokone and her place among the fairies receive additional focus.
