Albert is a B-rank adventurer based in the frontier town of Zoltan, where his divine blessing, the Champion, grants him immense combat prowess while also driving an obsessive pursuit of fame and the chance to overcome significant challenges. His primary ambition is to join the legendary Hero’s party, a goal that leaves him deeply dissatisfied with life in what he sees as a forgotten backwater. Initially proud, arrogant, and condescending toward those of lower rank, he is still willing to acknowledge genuine skill in others, which leads him to try recruiting the apothecary Red despite Red’s lower D-rank. Albert’s background includes formative guidance from another adventurer named Dir during an incident where an owlbear abducted people, and he has connections to locals such as the carpenter Gonze. His resentment toward Red grows when Rit decides to retire from adventuring and live with Red, foiling Albert’s own plans. Desperate for power, Albert makes a contract with a demon, leading to a confrontation where Red defeats him and severs his arm. Even after imprisonment, his obsession drives him to contract with the demon again, sparking a larger conflict. Witnessing the loneliness of the Hero Ruti shatters Albert’s romantic view of glory, sparking a profound transformation. He abandons his arrogance, begs forgiveness, and proves his change by protecting innocent fairies from the hero Van. After the climactic battle, he joins forces with Theodora, becoming her loyal squire.
