Description
Eris is the queen of the Kingdom of Seifort, a ruler whose life has spanned several centuries. She is a woman of striking appearance, characterized by her long blue hair and blue eyes, which complement her elegant and regal bearing. Her longevity and power are intrinsically linked to her possession of a deadly sin skill known as Lust, an ability that allows her to attract and bewilder those around her. In addition to this inherent power, she is the wielder of Envy, a sentient weapon classified as a sin weapon, one of the powerful armaments tied to the deadly sins.
Eris presents herself as the guardian of her kingdom, a role she takes seriously despite her often capricious and enigmatic demeanor. Her personality is complex, marked by a blend of queenly authority and a more personal, teasing nature. She can act in a selfish and seemingly whimsical manner, once remarking that one should simply accept her selfishness because she is the queen. Beneath this regal facade, she possesses a sharp perceptiveness, particularly in matters of the heart, and can display a grounded, almost maternal warmth. This is shown when she teases the protagonist Fate about his romantic feelings, offering to comfort him if a confession to another person goes wrong, while simultaneously testing his resolve with her own enchanting power. Despite her long life, she harbors deep-seated grudges, such as a clear and potent hatred for an individual named Libra, a figure from her past whom she wishes to see dead.
Eris and her weapon, Envy, share a foundational history, having worked together to establish the kingdom centuries ago. However, their partnership fractured due to a fundamental disagreement on how to rule. Envy desired to create a user to replace Eris and, over hundreds of years, resorted to brutal experimentation and tyranny, while Eris left the kingdom to travel on her own. Her role in the present story is deeply connected to this past. She eventually reunites with Envy after the weapon is defeated in battle by Fate, traveling to the place where Envy crashed to the ground to personally confront and discipline her former partner. Eris’s relationship with Fate is more collaborative. She provides him with crucial information, discussing the motives of their enemies and the history of the world. She treats him with a fond, teasing affection, viewing his personal growth and resolve with a sense of pride, calling him her man once he proves himself unharmed by her powers. Another formative figure in her past is a man named Kairos, who saved her from Libra. She followed him faithfully until his sacrifice, after which she led the survivors to found the Kingdom of Seifort, an event that explains her ancient age and deep-seated animosity toward Libra.
Character development for Eris is tied to the resolution of her ancient conflicts. Her arc involves confronting the monstrous legacy left by Envy’s centuries of misrule, moving from separation and disagreement to a direct and forceful reconciliation. Her development is also subtly interwoven with Fate, as she shifts from a mysterious, powerful figure to a more personal ally who invests in his emotional maturity. Her notable abilities are formidable and diverse. As a sin weapon wielder, she commands the power of the weapon Envy, a gun-blade. Her inherent skill, Lust, allows her to attract and entrance people, an ability she can consciously control. She has demonstrated the capacity to use this power to test others, implying a refined mastery over an otherwise dangerous and potentially overwhelming skill.
