Description
Kiku Takemoto is the mother of Tetsu and the grandmother of the young protagonist, Chie. At approximately 70 years old, she is an elderly woman with grey hair and black eyes. Along with her husband, who is referred to as Ojii, she runs a small shop not far from Chie's home that specializes in fried entrails.
Kiku is noted for her formidable physical strength. In a display of her robust nature, she is capable of defeating at least four men in a fight, which makes her even stronger than her son Tetsu, who can only handle three opponents. This trait is a defining characteristic of her personality, shared with her son. She speaks with a distinct Osaka accent and uses the first-person pronoun watai. While Tetsu runs the family restaurant in name, Kiku, along with her husband, actively runs their own food business, presenting a more industrious contrast to her son's gambling habits.
