Description
Keith White serves as the primary antagonist and the central source of conflict in Project ARMS: The 2nd Chapter. He is a scientist of probable German descent who rose to prominence in the 20th century as a brilliant but utterly amoral researcher for a clandestine organization known as the Egrigori. White is depicted as a physically young-looking man with short blonde hair, but his youthful appearance belies a centuries-spanning intellect and a soul devoid of ethics.
His background is rooted in the discovery of a meteorite containing a sentient alien nanomachine collective named Azazel. While other researchers saw a scientific marvel, Keith White saw the key to godhood. He established the Egrigori with the goal of forced human evolution through the fusion of man and machine, viewing human beings not as people but as disposable raw materials for his experiments. This philosophy is most brutally demonstrated in his treatment of a young test subject named Alice. When she and other child subjects begged to see the outside world, White struck her and later ordered them all shot, showing no remorse when Alice was mortally wounded and subsequently merged with the alien Azazel. He even laughed when a colleague condemned his actions as unethical.
Driven by the goal of becoming a god by merging with Azazel and the Earth, Keith White's primary method was the creation of the Keith Series. These were dozens, perhaps hundreds, of genetically engineered clones modeled on his own body, designed to be compatible hosts for the biomechanical weapons known as ARMS. He showed no paternal concern for these clones, referring to them as tools and watching with detached interest as most died painful deaths from the implantation process. His notable creations include Keith Red, Keith Green, Keith Silver, Keith Violet, and the two most significant: Keith Blue and Keith Black. Initially, his plans appeared to end when he was killed by Keith Black, the first successful ARMS host, shortly after Black's transformation. However, this death was merely a feint; White had used the unique absorbing properties of Black's ARMS, Humpty Dumpty, to transfer his consciousness into his clone, where he laid dormant for two decades, subtly manipulating events from within.
Throughout the narrative of The 2nd Chapter, Keith White acts as a puppeteer, orchestrating the suffering of the protagonists to bring about his rebirth and final plan. His role evolves from a legendary, malevolent ghost of the past to a tangible, nearly invincible threat. Upon finally seizing full control of Keith Black's body, White is resurrected with a terrifying combination of powers. His key relationships are defined by exploitation and contempt. He views Alice, now a vengeful entity, as a tool to be used for global destruction. He regards his clones, whom he calls his children, as failed prototypes at best and obstacles at worst, eventually killing his own son, Keith Blue, with absolute indifference. He has no meaningful allies, only assets and pawns.
The character's development is less about personal growth and more about the full unveiling of his monstrous nature and original plan. He is a static but increasingly formidable villain who finally takes center stage. His primary motivation remains the achievement of divinity through the fusion with Azazel, regardless of the human cost. In the final arc, he attempts to trigger a global extinction event by driving Ryo Takatsuki's ARMS, the Jabberwock, to destroy the world, so that he may rule over the ashes as a god.
Keith White's notable abilities are formidable and multifaceted. While originally a normal human of immense intelligence, his resurrection grants him the full spectrum of powers from the Keith Series clones via his own ARMS, Humpty Dumpty. In its transformed state, Humpty Dumpty takes the form of a shadowy humanoid with long, cylindrical arms. Its primary ability is to create a near-impenetrable armor that can absorb and nullify any attack directed at it. More dangerously, it can assimilate the powers of other ARMS, allowing White to use Keith Green's space-time teleportation, Keith Silver's laser-based Brionic Spear, Keith Red's hypervibrations, and Keith Blue's explosive spikes, among others. He demonstrates a high degree of skill with these abilities, using them in combination to outmaneuver his opponents. He can also manifest wing-like structures to achieve flight, making him a virtually untouchable aerial threat whose power is only matched by his total lack of humanity.
