Description
Hibari Ōzora is the third eldest child of Ibari Ōzora, a powerful yakuza boss. Living with her father and three sisters following the death of her mother, she was assigned male at birth but consistently lives and presents as female, particularly outside her home where she attends school as a girl and identifies as one of Ibari's daughters. While many characters aware of her history, including her father and the protagonist Kōsaku Sakamoto, frequently use male pronouns or labels such as crossdresser, Hibari responds to this treatment with a mix of sadness, defiance, and sometimes humor, occasionally reclaiming the terms to disarm them.

Hibari exhibits a confident and assertive personality, blending independence, charisma, and a sharp wit with a somewhat impulsive and aggressive streak acquired from her yakuza upbringing. At school, she is extremely popular and admired as an idol by her unaware peers, excelling both in academics and athletics. At home, however, she can be quick to resort to weapons and physical confrontations, though these traits are portrayed as inherent parts of her character rather than as a reflection of her assigned gender. She takes great care with her appearance, maintaining a feminine presentation through stylish clothing and accessories, and openly expresses a desire for physical transition, including envy toward the physical development of other girls.

The central focus of her actions and motivation is her persistent romantic pursuit of Kōsaku Sakamoto, who comes to live in her family home. Though her advances are often comedic and sometimes involve non-consensual physical contact framed within the series' slapstick style, Kōsaku is aware of her assigned gender from the start, meaning his rejection stems from his own discomfort rather than any deception on her part. Over the course of the story, Kōsaku develops genuine romantic feelings for her while struggling with societal expectations, and Hibari remains exclusively devoted to him, rejecting all other suitors regardless of whether they know her history.

Family relationships play a crucial role in her story. Her father Ibari disapproves of her gender expression and pressures her toward masculine behavior and inheritance of the yakuza group, efforts she consistently resists. Her youngest sister, Suzume, is fully supportive, affirming Hibari's identity without reservation. Regarding women's spaces such as locker rooms or baths, Hibari's presence often causes anxiety for others, but she focuses on avoiding being outed, and her interest in other girls' bodies stems from envy and gender distress rather than predatory intent.

The narrative does not reach a full resolution due to the manga's premature ending, leaving both her romantic relationship and gender journey incomplete. However, late-story elements introduce a transgender male character who discusses hormone replacement therapy, positioning the two as counterparts, and coupled with Kōsaku's gradual acceptance, hints at an evolving trajectory toward broader acknowledgment of her identity. Her notable abilities include exceptional skill in combat, allowing her to defeat nearly anyone in a fight, alongside high-level athletic performance and strong academic grades.
