Description
In the 1979 anime series Kujira no Josefina, the character known as Maestro is Santi's teacher, tasked with helping the young protagonist prepare for his examinations. This character is a school instructor who demonstrates a professional and demanding approach to education, pushing Santi to focus on his studies. Despite this exterior of being very exacting, Maestro reveals a deeper layer of understanding and compassion. This quality becomes particularly evident in his interaction with Santi when the boy requests some personal time to be with his friend Celia. Rather than being inflexible, the teacher shows he is accommodating, recognizing the importance of personal relationships and balance in a child's life. In this way, Maestro serves as an important adult figure who contributes to Santi's world outside of his family and his imaginary friendship with the whale Josefina, helping guide him through the practical and social challenges of growing up.
