Description
Bizo is a young male African bush elephant who appears as a character in the anime Leo the Lion. He is the son of Pagoola, a larger and more mature elephant, and is part of his father's herd. Bizo is characterized primarily by his arrogant, boisterous, and brutal nature. He has a well-established habit of dismantling and destroying the homes of smaller animals, an activity he engages in due to his apparent dislike for them. This destructive behavior marks him as a bully and a source of conflict within the jungle community.

Bizo's personality is complex, combining his arrogant and cruel tendencies with a whiny and cowardly disposition. While he acts tough when terrorizing smaller and weaker creatures, he quickly backs down when confronted by a stronger or more courageous opponent. For instance, he cowers away when someone shows the guts to stand up to him. This mixture of bluster and cowardice defines his early interactions with others. His primary motivation seems to be the assertion of dominance through intimidation and physical destruction, likely stemming from a sense of superiority because of his large size.

In the story, Bizo serves as an antagonist and a rival to the protagonist, Lune. His habit of bullying other young animals and destroying their homes puts him in direct opposition to Lune, leading to several confrontations. Despite their animosity, the two are forced into an uneasy cooperation in one episode when they must work together as a duo to free themselves from a dual-headed bear trap. This situation highlights a rare moment of reluctant teamwork between the rivals. In another significant episode, Bizo's bullying takes a dangerous turn when he teases sick animals and subsequently becomes infected with a deadly plague known as the Green Plague. This illness becomes a pivotal point for his character, as the other animals and humans work to heal him and the other infected elephants with large shots.

Bizo's most significant relationships are with his father, Pagoola, and his rival, Lune. Pagoola is shown to be ashamed of his son's cowardly and cruel behavior. The herd's dynamic shifts when Bizo's actions lead to serious consequences. His relationship with Lune evolves from simple antagonism to a reluctant alliance when forced by circumstance. The experience of being cured of the plague leads to a significant change in both Bizo and his father. After being healed by humans, they experience a change of heart regarding trusting others, including humans, and express their gratitude without words. This development marks a turning point away from his purely destructive and arrogant nature. In later adaptations, Bizo is shown to grow tusks and eventually helps his herd, suggesting a maturation from a troublesome youth into a more responsible member of the elephant community. His notable abilities include his immense physical strength, which he uses to tear apart the homes of smaller animals, and his durability, as he survives a serious illness that plagues the jungle.
