Description
En Daidōji is the core protagonist of The Brave Command Dagwon, a sixteen-year-old first-year student at Sankai High School who becomes the self-appointed leader of the Dagwon team. Standing at 171 centimeters tall with brown hair and brown eyes, he is characterized by a bold and fearless nature that often leads him to act on impulse without overthinking the consequences. Known as the top problem student at his school, he frequently displays a rebellious attitude through habitual tardiness, absenteeism, sleeping in class, and getting into physical altercations with others; his aggressive tendencies once resulted in him breaking a fellow student's arm, leading to a suspension. Despite these rough edges, En's defining trait is his immense courage and willingness to sacrifice himself to protect Earth and his teammates, a quality that earns him the genuine respect and trust of those who fight alongside him.
En is chosen along with four other high school students to receive powers from an alien officer known as a Bravian, who equips them with Dag-Commander wrist morphers and Dagtector battle armor to combat the escaped alien criminals from the space prison Sargasso. His role in the story is that of the front-line fighter and emotional heart of the group, often taking the most dangerous risks to ensure victory. Using his Dag-Commander, he transforms into his armored alter ego, Fire En. In this form, he gains a red bird-themed suit of armor and can transform his body into a phoenix-like configuration called Fire Bird Mode for high-speed travel and attacks. For ground combat as Fire En, he wields an arsenal of flame-based attacks including Shoulder Burn, which fires disk-shaped energy blasts, and the devastating Fire Knuckle, a flaming punch. When greater power is required, En merges mentally and physically with a police patrol car to form the giant humanoid robot Dag Fire; this can further combine with other vehicles and Dagwon members to create even larger robots such as Fire Dagwon.
Throughout the series, En's journey is one of maturation from a hot-headed delinquent into a true leader. His relationships with his fellow Dagwon members are central to this development. He shares a close bond with his comrades Kai Hirose, Shin Sawamura, Yoku Kazamatsuri, and Ryuu Hashiba, who ultimately look to him for direction in battle despite his reckless tendencies. En also maintains a significant romantic connection with a female student named Maria Tobe, which adds a layer of personal stakes to his missions. A notable ability he possesses is the power to initiate the Super Blazing Combination, which merges Fire Dagwon with the Fire Shovel vehicle to form the immensely powerful Super Fire Dagwon, the team's ultimate robot. However, this transformation carries a severe drawback, as it drains En of nearly all his physical energy, causing him to collapse after the battle concludes, highlighting the immense toll his bravery takes on his body.
