TV-Series
Description
Barom-1 is the titular hero from the Japanese anime and tokusatsu series, existing as a unique fusion entity rather than a single individual. This powerful being is created when two young boys, Kentaro Shiratori and Takeshi Kido, perform a specific action by crossing their right arms, an act known as the Barom Cross. The duo is granted this ability by a benevolent entity named Kopu, who appoints them as protectors of the world against the evil force known as Doruge.

The fusion that produces Barom-1 is a perfect synthesis of the two boys' distinct qualities. Kentaro is characterized as a calm, intelligent, and strategic thinker, and he becomes the brain and intelligence of Barom-1. In contrast, Takeshi is more physically oriented, providing the raw power and physical strength that the hero uses in combat. The success of their transformation and the effectiveness of Barom-1 are entirely dependent on the strength of their friendship. This bond is measured in units called Barom, where 300 Barom is the threshold needed to transform, far exceeding the 50 Barom of an ordinary friendship. If the two boys quarrel or lose trust in one another, the fusion will be undone, and they cannot transform again until they reconcile and restore their bond. This central dynamic makes the hero a direct representation of their partnership and mutual reliance.

Barom-1's role in the story is as the primary defender against the monsters and minions sent by the evil Doruge. When a threat appears, Kentaro and Takeshi fuse to become this superhero, confronting a wide variety of enemies, including Animal and Plant Majin as well as Human Body Majin. The hero is driven by a strong sense of justice and a desire to protect innocent people, a trait inherited from both boys. Kentaro, in particular, grapples with the ethical responsibilities of their power, facing difficult decisions about when to fight and whom to save, and his resolve is often strengthened when his family or friends are directly threatened. The key relationships for Barom-1 are therefore the two individuals who compose him and the entity Kopu who bestowed their power. The hero's allies also include the family members of both boys, such as Kentaro's parents Keitaro and Shizuka Shiratori, and Takeshi's relatives Matsugoro, Rintaro, and Noriko Kido.

The development of Barom-1 is directly tied to the personal growth of Kentaro and Takeshi. Initially, the boys might struggle with their roles, but as they face increasingly dangerous foes, their camaraderie matures into an inseparable partnership. Their ability to overcome external threats often hinges on resolving internal conflicts, with the hero's very existence being a barometer of their unity. The hero also develops new techniques over time, as seen when a special training session leads to the creation of the Deadly Bomb Punch, an improved version of a standard attack.

In terms of abilities, Barom-1 is a physically imposing figure, standing 2 meters tall and weighing 80 kilograms. The body is made of specialized cells, granting immense durability against high temperatures up to 7,000 degrees, extreme cold below -210 degrees, immense pressure, high-voltage electricity, and even most poisons. The hero possesses a vast arsenal of named attacks and techniques, many of which are powerful punches and throws. Signature moves include the Barom Bomb Punch, a leaping, rushing punch that serves as a primary finishing move, and the Barom Break, a powerful shoulder tackle. Other abilities include the Barom Cut, Barom Swing, and Barom Driller, a high-speed rotation used for burrowing underground or breaking free from restraints. Beyond physical attacks, Barom-1 has a variety of special powers. The eyes can emit heat rays that cause enemies to explode and possess an infrared amplifier for seeing in the dark. The hero also has extrasensory abilities, such as exploring a person's memories through touch and clairvoyantly seeing through an enemy's disguise. Barom-1 is capable of flight, underwater movement, and traveling one thousand meters underground, aided by a gravity-repelling device and an oxygen-supplying system within the helmet called the Barom Breathe. In addition to these personal powers, Barom-1 has access to a palm-sized, oval-shaped support device named Bopp, which can act as a radar, a communication tool, and even a weapon. By throwing Bopp into the air and shouting, the hero can summon a universal super car called the Mach-Rod for transportation.
