TV-Series
Description
Naoto is an elementary school student who is unexpectedly chosen to become the new Gekkō Kamen-kun, the second generation of the legendary masked hero. The original Gekkō Kamen, now retired and living on the moon, sends his sentient and loyal scooter-shaped alien partner, Sukko, back to Earth to find a suitable successor. Sukko selects Naoto for this role, thrusting the young boy into the world of superheroics. Naoto's background is that of an ordinary child, but he quickly adapts to his new responsibility of defending the planet from alien invaders and solving daily neighborhood troubles.

Personality-wise, Naoto is defined by a strong and unwavering sense of justice. He is determined to protect his city and the people around him, showing courage and a desire to do what is right. Despite his heroic drive, he struggles with the weight of his secret identity and the challenge of balancing his normal life as a student with his nighttime activities as a vigilante. He can be tense or anxious when facing difficult situations, but he remains committed to his mission. His sense of duty is complemented by a loyalty to his friends and allies, and he often seeks to uphold the ideals of the hero whose mantle he has inherited.

Naoto's primary motivation is to safeguard those who cannot protect themselves. He is driven by a genuine wish to help others and to thwart any threat, whether it comes from the grandchildren of the old enemy Satan's Claw or from more mundane local conflicts. He also feels a responsibility to live up to the legacy of the original Gekkō Kamen, whose example of justice he strives to follow.

In the story, Naoto serves as the protagonist and the central hero. The plot revolves around his efforts to prevent the various schemes of the alien and villainous forces that have arrived on Earth, often targeting his own community. His role is not only to fight these larger threats but also to address the everyday problems of the townspeople, which are frequently treated with a comedic and lighthearted tone. He must navigate the interference of local authorities who disapprove of his vigilante methods, adding another layer to his challenges.

Key relationships include his bond with Sukko, who acts as his partner, adviser, and means of transportation. The original Gekkō Kamen remains a distant but influential figure, having passed on his mission. Naoto also interacts with a cast of recurring characters, including his school friends and classmates, from whom he must keep his secret identity hidden. Among these are a classmate and a childhood friend, and his attempts to maintain his secrecy while forming close bonds create personal complications. He also faces a gallery of eccentric villains, including the elderly Satan's Claw, Skull Mask, and others who frequently find themselves at odds with the hero.

Over the course of the series, Naoto undergoes development as he grows into his role. He initially struggles with the pressures of being a superhero, but he gradually becomes more confident and capable, learning to rely on his own judgment and the support of his allies. His interactions with both friends and foes help shape his understanding of justice and responsibility.

As Gekkō Kamen-kun, Naoto possesses notable abilities that allow him to fight effectively. He is a skilled acrobat and uses his physical agility to outmaneuver opponents. In his hero identity, he dons a distinctive white-and-red costume with a crescent moon emblem on the chest and a mask that conceals his face. While he lacks the original hero's full arsenal, he relies on his wits and his partnership with Sukko to overcome challenges. The series also emphasizes a principle of not killing or excessively harming enemies, instead focusing on stopping their schemes and correcting their wrongdoing.
