Description
Mamma capra is a character who appears in the anime adaptation of the Grimms' fairy tale The Wolf and the Seven Young Goats within the anthology series Manga Sekai Mukashi Banashi. She is a mother goat who lives with her seven young children in a small cottage in the countryside. Her personality is defined by her deep maternal love, caution, and resourcefulness. She is protective of her kids and carefully instructs them not to open the door to strangers, especially the wolf, before she leaves home to gather food. Her primary motivation is the safety and well-being of her children, and she goes to great lengths to ensure they are not harmed. In the story, she plays the central role of a parent who must both teach her children a lesson about trust and vigilance and then take decisive action when the wolf deceives them. Her key relationships are with her seven kids, who look to her for guidance and protection, and with the wolf, who represents the external threat she warns against. Her development occurs when she returns to find the wolf has tricked and eaten most of her children; she transforms from a worried but confident mother into a grief-stricken but determined avenger. She then tracks down the wolf, finds him sleeping, and cuts open his belly to rescue her children, replacing them with stones that cause the wolf to drown. This act demonstrates her notable ability to think creatively under pressure and her fierce courage when her family is in danger. She does not possess supernatural powers but relies on her wits, maternal instinct, and determination to overcome the antagonist.
