Description
Himiko Shinobibe is the 13th-generation chief of the Shinobibe Ninja Clan and serves as one of the primary companions to the protagonist Wataru Ikusabe throughout the Mashin Hero Wataru series. Despite her youthful appearance, she holds the title as the young leader of her clan and is often noted to be seven years old. Physically, she is a small girl with turquoise hair typically tied up with a large pink ribbon, which serves as her charm point. Her outfit consists of a deep-pink ninja suit with short sleeves and long pants, complemented by a white belt and footwear. A distinctive feature of her attire is the golden shoulder pads and armbands on her shoulders, which are said to be crafted from dragon scales. Her physical specifications include a height of 110 centimeters and an AB blood type.

In terms of personality, Himiko is known for her boundless energy and hyperactive nature. She is characterized as bubbly, innocent, and exceptionally optimistic, possessing a perpetual smile that reflects her enjoyment of life. Notably, she is described as having no concept of fear, approaching all challenges with intrepid curiosity. Her speech is often marked by a distinctive laugh and a habit of adding specific phrases to the end of her sentences. While her happy-go-lucky demeanor is her most common trait, she is capable of becoming deeply serious and competent when her friends or family are placed in danger. She subscribes to the belief that the pure-hearted nature of a child prevents them from inheriting evil, which allows her to disregard conventional logic in her actions.

As a ninja, Himiko possesses a range of unique and unconventional ninjutsu abilities. Her techniques often defy practical logic, and during the original series, they were sometimes inspired by concepts submitted by viewers. She triggers her abilities using a signature incantation and is known to communicate with animals. Himiko is proficient enough to rescue her allies from trouble, though her lack of complete mastery means her tricks can backfire with equal frequency, though she remains undeterred by these failures. She makes extensive use of a Bag of Holding, which contains a seemingly endless supply of tools, weapons, food, and other miscellaneous items. In terms of combat, she is a kunoichi who occasionally pilots mechanical units. In the first series, she serves as the co-pilot of the ninja-type Mashin known as Genjinmaru (which was originally piloted by her father), and in the sequel, she pilots the compact Moo-Moo-maru.

Himiko meets Wataru when he first arrives in Monja Village, and she immediately joins him on his journey to Sokai Mountain. Her role in the story is that of a loyal friend and ally, serving as a source of lightheartedness and laughter for the group, even if her playful antics sometimes lead them into unexpected difficulties. Despite her youth, she acts as an important emotional anchor for several key characters. She serves as a morality pet for the morally ambiguous character Kurama, indirectly guiding him toward better choices, and is a stabilizing emotional crutch for the volatile Toraoh. Her affection for Toraoh is significant, and it is noted that her stated future dream is to become his bride. Her bond with her father, Kenichi Ogata (the 12th chief), is also notable, as they pilot the Genjinmaru together in battle. Her grandfather, Genryusai Shinobibe, represents the elder generation of the clan.

Throughout the series, Himiko experiences emotional development that matures her understanding of happiness. While she typically seeks fleeting thrills and fun, an experience in Mashin Hero Wataru 2 known as the Hidden Purpose Test forces her to confront this trait. Guided by a version of her future self, she learns that true happiness is not derived from temporary excitement but from enduring bonds with family and friends. This growth deepens her character beyond simple comic relief. Typically cheerful, moments of genuine distress for her are rare and impactful, such as her devastation upon witnessing the apparent deaths of Kurama and Toraoh, which marks one of the few occasions she cries or expresses outright fury. Her signature catchphrases include a cheerful "Banzai! Banzai!" shouted to celebrate her allies' successes, and she frequently assigns quirky nicknames to both friends and foes.
