Description
GwinBee is the third and youngest of the three bumblebee android siblings, created by the scientist Dr. Cinnamon. As the little brother to TwinBee and WinBee, he is distinguished by his green body and blue, oddly-shaped canopy. Of the three, GwinBee is known for being the most boisterous, though in other contexts, his personality is described as quieter and a bit odd.
His primary role, especially within the narrative of TwinBee Paradise, is to act as the dedicated guardian and caretaker for a toddler named Mint. Mint is the little brother of Pastel, the pilot of WinBee, and the grandson of Dr. Cinnamon. Because Mint is still very young and communicates in baby talk, GwinBee is also responsible for interpreting his speech, having a "babubabu" language dictionary installed. This caring and protective duty forms the core of GwinBee's motivation, functioning not just as a combat vessel but as a reliable babysitter and companion.
Within the TwinBee Paradise radio drama and related media, GwinBee works closely with Mint, and the two are considered to work well together as a team. His relationship with his brothers, TwinBee and WinBee, is that of the youngest sibling in the group. In the games, this is often reflected in his status as the third player or a power-up, leading to him being described as the most marginalized member of the team. His pilot, Mint, is the grandson of Dr. Cinnamon and also the cousin of Light, the pilot of TwinBee.
GwinBee possesses several notable abilities. In his land-combat mode, he can attack by punching and can use his turbines to fire a powerful flame. His signature projectile weapon is the "Rattle Grenade," a hand grenade shaped like a giant rattle. Another unique ability, though one used sparingly, is the "Mint Miracle Voice," a sonic weapon where Mint’s ultrasonic screams are transmitted through GwinBee’s speakers to destroy enemies. He also uses a standard "Shot and Bomber" attack.
In terms of development, GwinBee has had multiple pilots across the history of the TwinBee franchise. While a pilot named Mellow first appeared in earlier games, Mint was introduced in Pop'n TwinBee: Rainbow Bell Adventures and has since become his permanent and most recognized pilot. The TwinBee Paradise series was instrumental in further developing this universe, cementing Mint as GwinBee's official pilot and expanding on their unique relationship.
