Miki Itō is a veteran Japanese voice actress and narrator born on October 21, 1962, in Tokyo, Japan. She is a graduate of the University of Tsukuba. Itō is affiliated with the talent agency Office Osawa, which she joined in the early 1990s to further her career in narration work. She began her training at the Katsuta Voice Actor's Academy during her third year of university and made her professional debut in January 1985 in the original video animation (OVA) Greed.

Itō's early career included a wide variety of roles, with one of her first starring parts being Eiko "A-ko" Magami in the 1986 theatrical film Project A-ko. Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, she built a strong portfolio, taking on significant characters such as Princess Kirara in Aoi Blink, Kichi in Jungle Book: Shōnen Mowgli, and Satomi Yamazaki in Hikari no Densetsu. A defining moment in her career came in 1992 when she began voicing Android 18 in the immensely popular Dragon Ball Z series. This role became one of her most iconic and enduring, which she has reprised for decades across numerous subsequent Dragon Ball television series, films like Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, and video games.

Itō's filmography demonstrates her versatility across genres and character types. She has portrayed a range of strong, complex women, from the stoic and powerful Android 18 to the sophisticated Sachiko Ogasawara in the Maria Watches Over Us series. She is also well-known for voicing maternal or guardian figures, such as the kind-hearted Tōko Fujiwara who adopts the protagonist in the long-running Natsume Yūjin-Chō series, a role she has played across multiple seasons and a film. Another significant guardian role is Taiga Fujimura in the Fate franchise, appearing in series like Fate/stay night and its film trilogy Heaven's Feel.

Her ability to portray villainous or psychologically intricate characters is evident in her performances as Miyo Takano in the Higurashi When They Cry series and Eva Ushiromiya in Umineko - When They Cry. Itō has also lent her voice to other memorable roles, including Sonomi Daidouji in Cardcaptor Sakura, Reimi in Burn Up!, and Monica in Glass Maiden.
