Kokuryū Kamizake is the main antagonist of the anime Medabots Spirit. He is the son of Shinsui Kamizake, the president of the Bacchus corporation, a major investor in the Death Medarot Company. His mother died when he was four years old, and his father was frequently abroad in the United States, leaving Kokuryū largely isolated. He was raised primarily by his bodyguard and chauffeur Uragasumi, and grew up without close family bonds. This background led him to become cold and emotionally detached, and he developed a strong disdain for the Medarots produced by the Medarot Corporation, viewing them as weak and overly sentimental. He is highly intelligent and manipulative, using his family's wealth and influence to further his goals. He sees friendships as transactions, often buying loyalty with gifts of Death Medarot hardware and taking advantage of others' frustrations and failures. His central motivation is to create the most powerful Death Medarots, emotionless robots that operate without the bonds between Medarots and their owners, and to prove their superiority over traditional Medarots. He believes that only by eliminating those emotional bonds can true strength be achieved. As the primary antagonist, Kokuryū supervises the research and development of all Death Medarot prototypes, programming their basic operating systems. He orchestrates the spread of Death Medarots and directly opposes Ikki Tenryō and Metabee, whose deep bond with each other represents a direct challenge to his philosophy. Throughout the story, he uses a series of Death Medarots, including Blossomail, Blackbeetle, and ultimately the immensely powerful Grain. His key relationships are shaped by his transactional worldview. He manipulates Ginkai, a young Robattler, into working as a test pilot and enforcer, but orders his Death Medarot to destroy Ginkai's robot when Ginkai questions him. He creates Blackbeetle, an experimental Death Medarot fitted with a Medal that allows her to develop a personality, yet he treats her as a disposable tool. He plans to transfer her Medal into Grain even though he knows it may erase her identity. The closest person to him is his bodyguard Uragasumi, while his biological father is nearly absent from his life. Over the course of the series, Kokuryū's worldview begins to unravel. In the final episode, during a confrontation with Grain, he is placed in life-threatening danger. He is rescued by the very Medarots he sought to destroy, including Blackbeetle, who manages to take control of Grain's body to save him. This experience profoundly changes him; he begins to understand the value of friendship and emotional bonds. In the aftermath, he is shown reconciling with Blackbeetle, reunited with his father for the first time in years, and forming genuine friendships with Ikki and the other children. In terms of abilities, Kokuryū is not a Robattler himself but a brilliant strategist and programmer. He is the architect of the Death Medarots' basic operating systems and oversees the entire development process. His most notable skills are his intellectual capacity to design and manage complex technological projects, his ability to manipulate people through gifts and psychological exploitation, and his resourcefulness in using the Death Medarot Company's wealth and influence to advance his schemes. He also commands multiple Death Medarots directly, although he relies on their superior combat abilities rather than engaging in Robattles himself.
