Description
Baron is a character from the 1980 anime series Moero Arthur: Hakuba no Ouji, which serves as a continuation of the earlier King Arthur adaptation. In this sequel, the narrative shifts to a more fantastical adventure where the protagonist Arthur conceals his royal identity to travel and battle the air pirate known as Ziking. Baron is a member of the small group of companions who accompany Arthur on this journey.

Within this traveling party, Baron stands out as a distinctly non-human member. He is a dog, yet he is depicted as possessing a personality and presence that feels almost human-like, fitting seamlessly into the group of wanderers. His companions include the brash and boastful but kind-hearted strongman Bossman, the mischievous and inventive young boy Pete, and the parrot Sunday, who speaks in broken phrases. This eclectic group forms the core cast for the series, traveling together and getting involved in various conflicts against villains and monsters they encounter on the road.

Unlike the heroic knights from the first series, this group is composed of commoners and outcasts, with Arthur hiding his true station among them. Baron’s role is primarily as a loyal animal companion, providing support and adding to the unique, somewhat rag-tag dynamic of the team. The series adopts a lighter, more straightforward tone focused on action and camaraderie, and Baron is a consistent presence throughout these adventures, helping to define the series' shift away from the more serious historical drama of its predecessor. His notable ability is simply his nature as a highly intelligent and devoted canine, able to accompany his human companions through all manner of dangerous situations.
