Description
Great Britain, designated as Cyborg 007, is a core member of the 00 Cyborg team. His real name is unknown, and his codename is a reference to his nationality and his role as an espionage specialist, drawing a deliberate parallel to the character of James Bond. Before being captured by the criminal organization Black Ghost, Great Britain was a celebrated stage actor in England who achieved significant fame and popularity. However, his success led him to become arrogant, and he abandoned his girlfriend, Sophie, who had supported his early career. Following a scandal that destroyed his reputation, he was disgraced and turned to alcohol, eventually becoming a homeless drunkard. Black Ghost agents exploited his vulnerability, luring him with alcohol to capture him and forcibly convert him into a cyborg. He was remodeled as part of a second generation of cyborgs, decades after the first.
Great Britain is a tall, lanky, and bald man with large eyes, a long mouth, and a distinctive, hawk-like nose. Flashbacks have shown that he had short blond hair in his youth. He typically wears the standard red, double-breasted military uniform of the 00 Cyborgs, complete with padded shoulders and a holster for his specialized gun. In civilian settings, he often dresses in a collared shirt and tie, or a suit. His personality is that of a jolly, goodhearted, and comedic individual who often serves as the mood maker for the team, using jokes to lighten tense or depressing situations. Despite this cheerful exterior, he harbors deep regrets and a melancholic side. He is profoundly ashamed of abandoning Sophie and letting his fame corrupt him, a guilt that haunts him throughout the story. He is also a struggling alcoholic; while he generally has his drinking under control during his time with the other cyborgs, he experiences notable relapses during periods of intense stress, as seen in the London Fogs storyline and the Conclusion: GOD'S WAR OVA. A philosophical side emerges from his acting past, leading him to often quote works by Shakespeare and apply literary references to everyday life.
As a member of the team, his primary role is that of infiltration, espionage, and support. He is fiercely loyal to his comrades and is always willing to protect them, despite occasionally coming across as flaky or unreliable. His most significant relationship is with Chang Changku, Cyborg 006. The two share a love-hate relationship characterized by constant bickering and poking fun at each other, yet beneath this surface, Great Britain deeply respects and trusts Chang, and they work closely together, even co-managing a restaurant during times of peace. He also maintains a good working relationship with Joe Shimamura (009) and Albert Heinrich (004), often joining them on missions. Great Britain holds an honorable and chivalrous attitude towards women. He falls deeply in love with Cyborg 0012, a female cyborg working for Black Ghost, and is willing to risk his life to save her despite her allegiance. His most personal development involves confronting his past guilt. He is given a chance at atonement when he meets Sophie's daughter, Rosa, who allows him to finally perform in Mists of London, the play he and Sophie had originally planned to do together.
Great Britain's primary ability is cellular metamorphosis, a power activated by pressing a switch located in his belly button. This mechanism reshapes his molecular structure, allowing him to transform into virtually anything he can imagine, including other people, animals, inanimate objects, or even blending into his surroundings. His background as an actor enhances this power, as he uses his skills to perfectly mimic the voice, mannerisms, and behavior of individuals he impersonates for infiltration. His shapeshifting has a wide range of applications. He can flatten his body, alter his size to become a giant, or adapt his physiology for combat, such as making his body extremely elastic to bind foes or become a resilient shield against attacks. While his transformations are highly effective, they are not always perfect and may sometimes miss key details of a subject. In the Conclusion: GOD'S WAR OVA, his abilities are upgraded to allow him to project an astral spirit form, which he can use to possess and control other beings. After the initial defeat of Black Ghost, he pursues a career as a stage actor and comedian, using his shapeshifting talents for his performances, before being called back into action for further missions against new threats.
