Description
Babel I is a pivotal yet largely unseen figure in the narrative of Babel II - Beyond Infinity, serving as the origin point for the story's central conflict and the source of the protagonist's power. He is a being who lived approximately five thousand years prior to the events of the series. Though his physical form no longer exists, his spirit endures, wandering within an ancient tower that bears his name, hidden deep in a desert and perpetually shrouded by dense sandstorms and fog.
This ancient tower, the Tower of Babel, acts as his sanctuary and a repository of immense knowledge and technology, including a central computer capable of complex data processing and operating sophisticated defense systems. Babel I is not an ordinary human from Earth. He is identified as an alien whose heritage and bloodline are the source of extraordinary psychic power. His role in the story is that of a predecessor and a caller. Sensing that an evil force is scheming to conquer the world, he uses a mysterious voice to contact a 17-year-old orphan named Koichi through disturbing nightmares.
His primary motivation is the protection of the Earth from this impending destruction. Unable to act directly in his spiritual state, he seeks out a worthy successor who possesses the same inherent potential for tremendous psychic abilities. He designates Koichi as the legitimate heir to his powers, legacy, and duty, awakening him as Babel II. His role is therefore foundational, acting as the catalyst that transforms the ordinary teenager into the champion who must fight against villains with paranormal force.
While Babel I does not actively participate in the ongoing battles, his presence is felt through the legacy he left behind. Beyond the psychic powers inherited by Koichi, Babel I is also the creator or master of three powerful guardians who become Koichi's allies: Rodem the shape-shifting Black Panther, Robross the giant monster bird, and Poseidon the colossal robot. These beings are part of the heritage of Babel I, and their loyalty is transferred to his chosen successor. His character is defined by his foresight and his ancient, lingering will to safeguard the world, establishing him as a wise and powerful progenitor whose actions set the entire struggle against the emperor of darkness, Yomi, into motion.
