Description
Jack Halle is a fictional character from the G-Saviour story, serving as a primary antagonist. His background is rooted in a military career within the Congress of Settlement Nations, known as CONSENT, where he holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was once the commanding officer of Mark Curran, the protagonist, during an event that forever defined their relationship. In a military exercise, one of Mark’s squadmates experienced a critical engine failure. Halle ordered Mark to abandon the soldier, deeming a rescue attempt too risky for the expensive mobile suit. Mark disobeyed, but his hesitation, influenced by the order, resulted in his failure to save the squadmate. This incident directly led to Mark’s disillusionment and eventual retirement from CONSENT forces.

Personality-wise, Jack Halle is depicted as a cold, sadistic, and ambitious individual. He is inflexible and imperturbable, carrying himself with an arrogant and often haughty demeanor that he believes gives him strong charisma. Deeply attached to his position and the military institution, he is firmly convinced of his own superiority and is willing to disregard the lives of others to achieve his own goals. Halle is also shown to be petty and financially minded, once complaining about the loss of expensive equipment in a situation where lives were at stake.

Halle’s primary motivation is the pursuit of personal glory and political power. He does not hesitate to support the ambitions of his superior, General Garneaux, if it will secure his own fame. He is ruthless in his methods to climb the ranks and eliminate obstacles, viewing Mark Curran as a threat and a traitor to be destroyed. His role in the main story is that of the relentless antagonist. He leads a CONSENT operation at a Hydro-Gen facility, where he orders soldiers to fire on civilians from the Gaean resistance, resulting in the capture of the scientist Cynthia Graves. When Mark later frees Cynthia to pursue her research, Halle confronts them, forcing them to flee. He subsequently frames Mark for the murder of a CONSENT guard, declaring him a traitor and shutting down the facility.

Key relationships define his actions. His most significant is his adversarial one with Mark Curran, built on resentment from the past training accident. He also serves under General Garneaux, whose expansionist aims he willingly supports. Cynthia Graves is another key figure as a target of his forces, representing the resistance to CONSENT’s authority which he is duty-bound to crush.

Throughout the story, Jack Halle shows no redeeming development or growth. He remains a consistently antagonistic force, driven by his own pride and ambition. His path culminates in a direct confrontation during the battle of Gaea. Halle pilots a CAMS-13 MS-Rai mobile suit and engages Mark Curran, who is piloting the G-Saviour. Halle is ultimately defeated in this battle and is captured by Gaean forces. His notable abilities include being a highly skilled mobile suit pilot, with several confirmed combat victories to his name. However, his considerable skill is ultimately overshadowed by his arrogance and his inability to adapt beyond his rigid, self-serving worldview.
