Noboru Taki is the general music teacher and band director of the Kitauji High School concert band. He is the son of Tooru Taki and the widowed husband of Chihiro Taki, who was the former band director at Kitauji and whose dream of leading the band to a national gold medal he carries forward. Taki attended Kitauji himself and was a member of its concert band during his student years. He played horn in elementary school before switching to trombone in middle school. His childhood ambitions ranged widely, including pottery, manga drawing, and film directing.
