Description
Kaminariman is a high-voltage robot created by the criminal organization BAD and appears as the primary antagonist in the eighth episode of Robot Keiji, titled Kaminari ga Koroshita?! (Thunder Kills?!). He is a generator-themed machine with a distinctive coil-like face marked by a lightning bolt, wire-like designs running along his arms, and thunder-drum-like components that extend from the back of his head. These drums can retract and revolve, and they serve both as a flight unit and as a housing for built-in machine guns that allow him to attack from the air.

Kaminariman’s background is that of a BAD murder robot, deployed by the organization to carry out contract killings for human clients. In his episode, he is hired by Mineko Akizuki, the aunt of the wealthy Akizuki family, who wishes to eliminate her three nephews so she can inherit the family fortune. Kaminariman approaches her as a salesman for BAD’s services, offering to kill the brothers in exchange for half the inheritance. True to BAD’s business model, he operates with a cold, professional detachment, treating murder as a straightforward transaction.

Personality-wise, Kaminariman displays the unemotional logic of a machine: he does not gloat unnecessarily and readily adapts his tactics when his initial plans fail. When his thunder beam is neutralized, he immediately switches to aerial gunnery without hesitation, showing a calm, calculating nature. He is committed to fulfilling the contract and will not be deterred by obstacles.

His primary weapon is the Thunder Beam, a powerful electrical light beam fired with the command Thunder On. This beam can instantly electrocute a human being, and its effectiveness is multiplied when directed through conductive materials such as iron, making it especially dangerous to the steel-bodied hero K. Kaminariman can also deliver electric shocks through direct physical contact. To enhance his lightning-based attacks, he possesses a rain-making device built into his head that can create a downpour, increasing the conductivity and power of his thunder beam. In combat, he fights with swift, aggressive movements, using his flight capability to gain an advantage.

Kaminariman’s role in the story is that of a cold-blooded antagonist whose actions set the episode’s mystery in motion. He kills the eldest Akizuki brother in a staged lightning accident, then pursues the two surviving siblings. His confrontation with the robotic detective K forms the core of the episode’s action. Kaminariman initially overpowers K by using iron structures to amplify his thunder beam, forcing K to retreat and be repaired. After K is retrofitted with a reverse coil that reflects the thunder beam back at its source, Kaminariman’s electrical attacks become useless, and he is eventually destroyed by K’s robot-destroying cannon.

Kaminariman does not undergo any character development; he serves as a purely functional enemy whose defeat demonstrates K’s ability to adapt and overcome specialized threats. His key relationship is with his client Mineko, whom he treats as a business partner, and his role as a BAD operative places him directly opposite the human and robot detectives. His notable abilities—the Thunder Beam, flight, rain generation, and adaptability in combat—make him a memorable example of the specialized BAD robots that K must outthink and outfight.
