Description
Harisasuman is a needle-themed assassin robot created by the criminal organization BAD, appearing in the tokusatsu series Robot Keiji. His name translates to "needle-stabbing man," reflecting his primary ability: a long, sharp needle that extends from his ear, capable of piercing through metal and injecting a potent poison that kills humans instantly. This needle is also strong enough to damage the visual circuits of the protagonist robot K, temporarily blinding him. Harisasuman is designed in the likeness of a golden beetle standing upright, with a viselike left hand that can be detached and thrown as a bomb. He possesses independent flight capability, often escaping by releasing a smokescreen from his rear and soaring into the sky.

His personality is cold, calculating, and ruthless. He shows no mercy to witnesses or informants, eliminating anyone who might expose the identity of his client. He is also bold, infiltrating police headquarters and hospital rooms without hesitation. He laughs with a distinctive "hehehehe" and often disguises himself in public, such as by wearing a traffic-control robot costume to get close to a target.

Harisasuman's motivation stems entirely from his programming as a BAD robot, which operates on a business model: BAD rents out robots to criminals in exchange for half the profits. In this instance, he is contracted by Kuroda, the president of a major trading company, to steal the blueprints for a supersonic passenger jet called the Asuka. Harisasuman's primary objective is to eliminate all witnesses and retrieve the designs, which involves kidnapping the inventor Dr. Hayama and his son Ryoichi, as well as murdering previous associates who know too much.

In the story, Harisasuman serves as the main antagonist of a two-part episode arc (episodes 9 and 10). He appears immediately after K and the police defeat another BAD robot, Koshikakeman, and arrest the criminal Oda. Harisasuman kidnaps Ryoichi, and later systematically kills Oda's employees and eventually Oda himself to protect the client's secret. He also abducts Dr. Hayama from the hospital and tortures him with an electric chair to force him to reveal the location of the blueprints.

His key relationships are primarily adversarial: he confronts K multiple times, fighting him on rooftops and at the Museum of Maritime Science. He also interacts with his client Kuroda, whom he ultimately executes on orders from BAD's leader after Kuroda's face is seen by Ryoichi. Harisasuman shows no loyalty beyond his contract, treating his human allies as expendable.

Throughout his appearances, Harisasuman demonstrates notable abilities beyond his needle attack. He can fly without external assistance, his left hand converts into an explosive projectile, and he wears disguises to blend in. He is also extremely durable, engaging K in prolonged combat. His development is limited to his role as a threat: he adapts his tactics to exploit K's weaknesses, such as targeting his eyes after learning their vulnerability. Ultimately, he is defeated by K in a desperate gambit: K deliberately lets Harisasuman impale him with the needle to immobilize him, then uses his chest-mounted robot-destroying gun to finish the enemy off.
