Description
Hokusai Masaki is a tall, slender young man with pale skin and light green messy hair, with eyes of the same color. He typically wears a black turtleneck top and a white hooded jacket with neon green stripes. At twenty-four years old, he works as a part-time high school student and is a member of the rap group Akanyatsura, using the stage name Furai Boy. His appearance is often described as mysterious and stoic, which can lead to misunderstandings about his true nature.

Hokusai's background is marked by a difficult childhood. His father was imprisoned, and as a result Hokusai was forced to grow up largely alone. This loneliness shaped him deeply; he found solace in stray cats, seeing a reflection of his own isolation in them, and developed a profound love for animals, especially cats. His weakness is a deep aversion to being alone, a remnant of those early years. He was eventually rescued by Iori Suiseki during a violent brawl and subsequently joined the Suiseki clan, the yakuza-affiliated group that forms the core of Akanyatsura. Many of the Suiseki members became like family to him, and a large number of them were later killed, adding further layers of loss to his personal history.

Despite his silent demeanor, Hokusai is compassionate and mild-mannered. He cares deeply for the people around him, often expressing concern or offering praise when others are troubled. He is quick to defend his friends, declaring that he will not allow anyone to bully them. His kindness extends to all, though his quietness sometimes causes others to misjudge his intentions. He is known for unconsciously petting cats whenever he sees them, earning him the nickname unconscious petting machine.

Hokusai's primary motivation revolves around loyalty and belonging. Having been isolated in his youth, he values the familial bonds he found within the Suiseki group and Akanyatsura. He participates in the Phantom Live rap battles as a way to prove the worth of his group's music and to protect the people he considers family. His rapping style, under the name Furai Boy, reflects his gentle yet determined personality.

In terms of abilities, Hokusai wields a phantometal accessory called Tiger-san Glove, a belt buckle on his wrist engraved with the kanji for tiger, which all members of Akanyatsura wear in some form. He activates it by kissing the tiger decoration, creating illusions tied to his emotions during performances. His role in the group is that of a quiet but reliable member who provides emotional support and fierce loyalty.

Throughout the anime, Hokusai's development centers on his gradual opening up to others and his struggle to overcome the trauma of his past. His relationships with the other members of Akanyatsura, especially Iori Suiseki who saved him, are central to his arc. He learns to trust and rely on his found family, allowing his true gentle nature to shine through more as the story progresses.
