Description
Gekiha Shijima is the protagonist of the original mecha anime Jyuō Mujin Dandivine, which is set to premiere in October 2026. He is an ordinary high school student living in a world that has enjoyed twenty years of peace following the legendary combined robot Dandivine's defeat of the mysterious invaders known as the Aposdolls. When the Aposdolls suddenly reappear in Tokyo, Gekiha is recruited by his uncle, Yusaku Kuroiwa, who was the former main pilot of Dandivine, to take control of the robot and face the renewed threat.

In terms of personality, Gekiha is deliberately written as a thoroughly ordinary and unremarkable young man. The series' scriptwriter, Toshiki Inoue, has described the character as a handsome but completely boring guy—one who does not undergo a dramatic transformation or become charismatic over the course of the story. This very ordinariness is presented as his defining trait, meant to subvert the typical mecha protagonist archetype. His motivations are largely external: he responds to the call from his uncle and the crisis at hand rather than driven by personal ambition or a strong sense of heroism.

His role in the story is to pilot the revived Dandivine in humanity's renewed struggle against the Aposdolls. His primary ability stems from his piloting of the mecha, though no special combat skills or innate talents have been highlighted in pre-release material. His key relationships include his uncle Yusaku Kuroiwa, who serves as a mentor and connection to the robot's past, and his younger sister Kirei Shijima, who is also a main character. Another figure connected to him is Akane Kuzumi, but the nature of that relationship has not been elaborated. Character development, if any, is anticipated to be minimal by design, with Inoue stating that the character does not become more interesting over time, which itself is meant to be the source of his narrative appeal.
