Description
George Takadanobaba is a Prism Star affiliated with the elite Schwarz Rose training school, where he serves as the leader of the idol unit The Shuffle. He was born and raised in Okayama, moving to Tokyo after being inspired by Jin Norizuki, the totalitarian head of Schwarz Rose. His early life was marked by childhood obesity and teasing from peers, but he was defended by a figure named Miyo. This experience helped shape his fiercely ambitious and outwardly cheerful personality. He later slimmed down and adopted a slender appearance, using his transformation as part of his drive to succeed.
Takadanobaba is a highly social and pragmatic individual, possessing what is described as the world’s highest level of sociality. He is thoroughly professional, always maintaining a bright smile on stage and showing complete loyalty to Jin Norizuki’s philosophy of never letting one’s smile falter. He is willing to flatter and ingratiate himself with superiors to climb the ranks, a trait that Jin recognized and rewarded by appointing him as the first leader of The Shuffle, replacing the originally intended candidate. Despite his ever-present smile, he dislikes it when other members of his unit outperform him, revealing a competitive and controlling nature beneath the surface.
His motivations are rooted in a strong hunger for recognition and success. He is determined to rise to the very top of the Prism Star world and believes that winning Jin’s favor is the surest path. This loyalty makes him a reliable asset to Schwarz Rose, and he is trusted by Jin to execute strategic moves, such as applying financial pressure on the rival school Edel Rose through the resources of the Chuoin Group. His abilities as a Prism Star are respectable but not at the very highest tier compared to the elite participants of the Prism King Cup. He is capable of performing triple consecutive Prism Jumps, a noteworthy technical skill. However, his actual singing voice is weak; he performs as a lip-sync idol, with a ghost singer, often identified as Ikeshita Eis, providing the vocals during his Prism Shows. This deception is kept hidden from the public but is known within Schwarz Rose. In terms of overall strength within his school, he is generally considered the third-strongest Prism Star, ranking behind Rui Kisaragi and Alexander Yamato.
Within the overarching narrative of the King of Prism series, Takadanobaba first appeared during the Prism King Cup tournament. He represents Schwarz Rose as a major antagonist to the protagonists of Edel Rose, particularly Shin Ichijo, whom he views as a rival. He has a complicated relationship with Kakeru Juuouin, the heir of the Juuouin family, because he distrusts Kakeru from a strategic perspective and cooperates with Jin in pressuring Edel Rose. Despite using a ghost singer, his professionalism and social intelligence earn him the respect of Hyakujiro, who considers him a role model that Kakeru could learn from.
In the new film King of Prism -Tri-Star Act-, which centers on the PRISM.3 trio tournament, Takadanobaba is confirmed as a returning character within the Schwarz Rose roster. While he is not a member of the central SePTENTRION unit competing for Edel Rose, his presence as a veteran Schwarz Rose Prism Star places him among the broader cast of competitors and supporters within the tournament setting. His character has shown limited development in terms of skill growth, but his unwavering ambition and loyalty to his school’s underhanded methods remain defining traits.
