Description
Ichimatsu Matsuno is the fourth of the six identical Matsuno sextuplets, and he is often described as the lone wolf of the group. His most defining trait is a deeply antisocial and melancholic personality, frequently appearing solemn, gloomy, and pessimistic. He struggles with low self-confidence and avoids social interaction, preferring to spend his time alone or in the company of cats, for whom he has a profound fondness. This attachment to cats is so strong that his brothers sometimes view him as incapable of forming human friendships, though in truth Ichimatsu simply lacks the confidence to reach out to others. He speaks in a flat, monotone voice and tends to avoid eye contact, contributing to his enigmatic air.

Despite his reclusive nature, Ichimatsu is a loyal and caring brother. He is especially close to Jyushimatsu, the fifth brother, and the two share many bizarre bonding moments, often involving cats or wild escapades. In contrast, Ichimatsu harbors a strong and openly expressed dislike for Karamatsu, a resentment that stems from jealousy over Karamatsu’s self-confidence and ease with others. He also frequently clashes with the eldest brother, Osomatsu, over his lazy and irresponsible schemes, though he still reluctantly participates in the family’s chaotic antics. His relationship with the youngest brother, Todomatsu, is tense, as Ichimatsu sees Todomatsu’s social savvy as fake and belittling.

Within the story, Ichimatsu fills the role of the brooding, pessimistic member of the sextuplets, often providing dry commentary and a counterbalance to his brothers’ more exuberant personalities. His motivations are not overtly grand; he primarily seeks a quiet existence and genuine connections, though his lack of confidence often gets in the way. Over the course of the series, he occasionally shows growth, allowing his brothers to pull him out of his isolation, particularly through Jyushimatsu’s infectious energy. He has no supernatural abilities, but he is noted for his robust physical strength, which sometimes surfaces in the brothers’ comedic fights. His most notable personal quirk is his deep empathy for cats, which occasionally drives entire episodes. Ichimatsu remains one of the most layered characters in the series, his gloominess hiding a loyal heart and a desire for meaningful bonds.
