Description
Kolo, sometimes translated as Collot, is an Old English Sheepdog student at Cherryton Academy. He has a medium-height athletic build. His white coat features abundant, perpetually disheveled fringes covering his eyes, while the rest of his body has short fur; long floppy ears and a fluffy tail are distinctive. Though his eyes are reputed to be exceptionally beautiful, they remain obscured by his fringe in official media. Creator Paru Itagaki suggests anyone seeing his eyes—females or gay beasts—might fall in love with him. His standard attire is the Cherryton Academy uniform: a white shirt, indigo vest, dark gray tie, gray pants with a darker vertical line pattern, and brown loafers in colder seasons, switching to a blue polo shirt in warmer months.
Kolo typically displays a calm and friendly demeanor, often offering rides to smaller group members like Voss for mobility. However, he possesses an underlying hyperactive, animated, and playful nature, showing an innocent, childlike disposition where serious expressions are rare. Among the Room 701 canines, he most prominently exaggerates stereotypical dog behaviors, experiencing bouts of jealousy that manifest as severe or rough conduct when feeling inadequately acknowledged. This duality shapes his interactions.
As a resident of Room 701 alongside Legoshi, Jack, Miguno, Durham, and Voss, Kolo engages in group routines. He and his roommates discover Tem's murder scene, intensifying campus tensions. During the Meteor Festival arc, he participates in the Room 701 "fur-cutting ceremony" to prepare for summer and helps sell the collected fur for income. He expresses concern over Legoshi's sudden disappearances, particularly when Gohin sends Legoshi's belongings to the dormitory, implicating him in breaking curfew with Haru. Kolo speculates with roommates about Legoshi losing his virginity during this absence, but they agree to avoid questioning him to preserve group dynamics, as all are virgins.
In the Predation Case arc, Kolo contributes to dormitory activities until interrupted by Legoshi's paranoia over mysterious sounds. He references a school ghost story about a "six-eyed ghost" to rationalize the noises, unsettling the group. He later witnesses Legoshi's physical transformation after another absence, deepening uncertainty about his identity. When the academy mandates segregation following escalating incidents, Kolo and his peers react with exhaustion and concern.
During the Interspecies Relations arc, Kolo visits Legoshi at the Beast Apartments to celebrate his new residence, reaffirming their friendship. He observes Jack wearing Legoshi's old clothes and witnesses Jack's adept social skills during a phone call with Legoshi's grandfather, Gosha. In a later reunion, Kolo resolves to stay composed around Legoshi but ultimately succumbs to emotion, joining a group hug before heading to B-Strike.
Throughout the series, Kolo's role remains supportive within the Room 701 dynamic, reacting to institutional changes and Legoshi's evolving struggles while maintaining his blend of loyalty and occasional childishness. His background lacks explicit familial or pre-Cherryton details. His narrative presence is confined to group interactions and responses to central plot events without significant development in spin-offs or films.
