Description
Daughter of Degwin Sodo Zabi, Kycilia Zabi ascends to high military rank within the Principality of Zeon. Her early life involves significant political events, notably the aftermath of Zeon Zum Deikun's death. She actively participates in the Zabi family's power consolidation, including efforts targeting Deikun heirs Casval and Artesia. Demonstrating authority and tactical skill even pre-war, she later directs security forces to clear an escape path for the fleeing Deikun family under Ramba Ral's protection.

Politically ambitious from youth, Kycilia recognizes the challenge of confronting her elder brother Gihren directly. Consequently, she focuses on cultivating military power through intelligence networks and innovative warfare technology. She establishes the Kycilia Agency to oversee Side 3's security and intelligence. Her methods feature calculated brutality, exemplified by executing Major Bergmann for leaking sensitive information during the covert lunar mission "Catherine".

Commanding the Zeon Army's Mobile Assault Force from lunar bases before the One Year War, Kycilia prioritizes specialized mobile suit units. These include elite formations like Char Aznable's 300th Independent Corps, the Chimera Corps, and the Midnight Fenrir covert team. Her strategic acumen surfaces at the Battle of Loum; she withdraws her fleet to preserve forces, allowing her brothers' fleets to claim glory, prioritizing pragmatic efficiency over personal accolades.

Her rivalry with Gihren escalates throughout the conflict. While sharing his desire for Zeon's supremacy, she opposes his reckless war prolongation. She initiates Operation Blue Bird, repatriating General Revil to facilitate peace negotiations, aligning with Degwin's attempts to end hostilities. This divergence highlights the deepening Zabi family fracture. After Gihren's unauthorized firing of the Solar Ray kills Degwin during a peace summit, Kycilia confronts him at A Baoa Qu. Upon his admission of patricide, she executes him with a single shot, citing Zeon's laws against familial treason. Assuming command of Zeon forces, she is killed shortly after when Char Aznable destroys her flagship, the *Chimera*, during the chaotic retreat.

Kycilia maintains complex relationships. She trusts M'Quve with critical assignments like leading the Earth Invasion Force, pairing him with brother Garma as political insurance. Her interactions with ace pilot Johnny Ridden include accepting a unicorn amulet from him, symbolizing a courtly bond, though she discards it after killing Gihren. Aware of Char Aznable's true identity as Casval Rem Deikun from childhood, she strategically supports his Newtype corps, viewing him as both asset and potential threat. Her underlying drive stems from a need for family recognition, fueled by perceived inadequacies and a desire to surpass her brothers' accomplishments.

Alternate portrayals depict variations: in "Gihren's Greed: The Blood of Zeon," she defects after Degwin's death to form the "Legitimate Zeon" faction, continuing the war independently. Another continuity shows her orchestrating Gihren's assassination via poisoning earlier and attempting to weaponize the "Zeknova" phenomenon, ending with her defeat by Char.
