Movie
Description
Yusuke Ninomiya, sole survivor of an infant plane crash that killed his parents, was left with paralyzed legs, confining him to a wheelchair. He spent childhood in a Tokyo hospital where an elderly man claiming inter-world travel and magic visited him. Later adopted by a flower shop owner, he gained an adoptive sister, Saki Mishima.
In youth, Yusuke met Haruto "Haru" Ichihara during a dog attack. Yusuke intervened by throwing a stone, drawing the dog's aggression to himself so Haru could escape, forging a lifelong bond. During high school, Yusuke aided Haru with basketball tactics. Both developed feelings for classmate Kotona Takashina, though Haru eventually dated her. The trio spent time together, Yusuke's wheelchair limiting participation.
When pursued by a menacing figure, Kotona contacted Yusuke and Haru. Yusuke located her but witnessed her stabbing by an assassin. Haru tried carrying Kotona to safety, leading to a near-fatal traffic accident that transported all three to Ni no Kuni, a parallel world. There, Yusuke discovered he could walk unaided. He and Haru learned Kotona's counterpart was Princess Astrid Astrum of Evermore, suffering a curse mirroring Kotona's injury. Yusuke removed a dagger manifestation from Astrid, healing her and earning the king's gratitude.
Yusuke deduced lives were linked between worlds. Back in Tokyo, Kotona's terminal tumor diagnosis prompted Haru to propose killing Astrid to save her. Yusuke opposed this, prioritizing Astrid's safety. After the assassin reappeared, both boys returned to Ni no Kuni. Yusuke was forced to fight Haru during a Black Banner army invasion. Their clash transported them back to Tokyo, where Yusuke realized his adoptive sister Saki was endangered due to a soulmate link with the knight Bertha Roam. After rescuing Saki from the assassin, Yusuke returned to Ni no Kuni.
During the final confrontation, Yusuke discovered villain Galeroth Felgrimm was Crown Prince Sedulus Astrum. He intercepted Galeroth's attack on Astrid, sustaining severe injuries. An elderly mystic revealed Yusuke's true heroic destiny, granting him the magical sword Mornstar. Assisted by the Divine Avnaron, Yusuke fought Galeroth before passing Mornstar to Haru for the killing blow. Following Galeroth's defeat, Yusuke chose to stay in Ni no Kuni, revealing his origin as a native of that world. His existence in Tokyo was erased from others' memories, though Haru retained them. Yusuke entered a relationship with Astrid and was crowned Prince of Evermore.
Yusuke exhibits high intelligence, tactical acumen, and logical reasoning. Despite physical limitations in Tokyo, he demonstrates courage and loyalty, traits amplified in Ni no Kuni. He wields swords proficiently and displays agility in combat, conjuring bluish magic and channeling power through Mornstar.
