Description
Gnauss Wisden serves as Evermore’s Chancellor of Magic and trusted advisor to King Fidelius Astrum, outwardly embodying unwavering loyalty while secretly maneuvering to undermine the crown. His public dedication to curing Princess Astrid’s curse masks his true identity as Sedulus Astrum—the kingdom’s presumed-dead Crown Prince and Astrid’s uncle. Born to a family that favored his younger brother Fidelius, Sedulus endured childhood neglect before being sent as a hostage to Beladon. There, he forged a peaceful life until his father annihilated Beladon with the sword Mornstar, slaughtering Sedulus’s wife and child. Surviving through forbidden alchemy that merged his essence with demonic forces, he adopted dual personas: the cunning Chancellor Gnauss Wisden and Galeroth Felgrimm, leader of the insurgent Black Banners.

As Gnauss, he manipulated Evermore’s court, cursing Astrid to exploit her soulmate bond with Kotona, a girl from another world, intending to siphon her magic and manipulate Haru—a key emotional pawn—into turning against the throne. His physical guise features pink hair, circular glasses, and opulent black-and-lavender robes accented with gold and crimson gems. When unmasked, his true form reveals magical scarring from his traumatic past, later replaced by Galeroth’s battle armor.

His intricate schemes unravel when Yu, a wheelchair-bound outsider, detects magical irregularities, exposing his duality. A final clash sees Yu and Haru wielding Mornstar—the blade that once destroyed Beladon—to dismantle his control over Haru and defeat him. Sedulus’s death halts the Black Banners’ rebellion and stabilizes Evermore, though scars linger among those entangled in his machinations. Driven by vengeance for stolen heritage and familial betrayal, his arc explores the corrosive pursuit of power, weaving personal anguish into a legacy of calculated ruin.
