His research yielded two critical discoveries: a prototype for the Promatech Engine and an impending apocalyptic event threatening Earth, triggered by the Promare's reaction to suffering. This catastrophe would surpass the Great World Blaze. Recognizing the danger, Deus opposed his research partner Kray Foresight's planetary migration plan, considering it too risky and inhumane. Anticipating betrayal over this disagreement, Deus concealed the final blueprints for a giant mecha weapon, Deus X Machina, designed to prevent a warp gate from opening. He also uploaded his consciousness into an AI system before his physical death. Kray subsequently murdered Deus, stole his research, and destroyed a surveillance camera at the scene. Years later, Deus existed solely as an artificial intelligence within a hidden laboratory beneath a frozen lake. He maintained surveillance over Promepolis through a camera network, awaiting intervention. Galo Thymos, Lio Fotia, and Aina Ardebit accidentally discovered this lab after their actions melted the ice covering it. The AI Deus introduced himself and revealed his findings to the trio. He explained the Promare's nature, their connection to the Burnish, Kray's theft and misuse of his research, and the impending planetary doom accelerated by Kray's experiments on Burnish to power a warp drive. He emphasized that the collective agony from powering the drive would trigger Earth's destruction. Deus tasked Galo and Lio with piloting the Deus X Machina to stop Kray, providing them with a specialized drill designed to reach the warp drive's core. When questioned by Aina about his contingency plan if they hadn't found him, the AI admitted he would have accepted the world's demise. Physically, Deus was an elderly man with a slightly hunched stature, greyish-white hair and beard, no visible eyebrows, and icy blue eyes. He typically wore a long white lab coat over a pink dress shirt, black necktie, black slacks, and suspenders, with a pen in his left breast pocket. His AI manifestation appeared as an unstable, icy-blue silhouetted form capable of generating arms. His name reflects thematic elements: "Deus" is Latin for "god," potentially referencing "deus ex machina," while "Prometh" is a shortening of "Prometheus," alluding to his role in revealing the fire-like Promare and suffering consequences.
