Description
Rui Minazuki is a young male with greyish-green hair that once reached past his shoulders and pale olive eyes. His lean, rather short build features constant band-aids on his left neck and chest, covering scars from an incident at age five. By 2022, he cuts his hair significantly shorter, symbolizing his decision to stop concealing those scars. His physical traits include a stiff body, sensitive skin, low blood pressure, and sensitive hearing. Despite efforts to improve, he retains below-average stamina and struggles with both heat and cold. Left-handed with 1.0 eyesight, he navigates these challenges quietly.

Born to a pianist mother and conductor father, Rui displayed prodigious piano talent from childhood, competing nationally and internationally. This prowess created discord with his older brother Rei, who lacked comparable ability and abandoned music. After disagreements over his piano career and the rift with Rei, Rui ran away. Fuduki Kai took him in, treating him like a son or younger brother. Rui brought his cat Yamato, occasionally conversing with the feline. Kai later facilitated his idol career by sharing his picture with a talent company. Initially reluctant about idol work, Rui embraced it after bonding with fellow members.

Approximately one year after joining the idol dormitory, Rui reconciles with Rei. During preparations for a piano recital at the Full Moon Festival, he coincidentally encounters Rei at the university hospital where Rei works. The festival's "new self" theme aligns with Rui's journey, including his reconciled relationship with Rei and transformed perspective on his scars.

His personality blends innocence, naïveté, and a unique worldview. He remains non-reactive to conventional stimuli like scary stories but susceptible to unconventional influences, such as Shimotsuki Shun's peculiar teachings. Initially distant from dorm members, he gradually opens up—exclusively calling Kannaduki Iku "Ikkun," allowing Terase Yuno to play with Yamato, and accepting bridal-style carrying from her despite embarrassment. He views Nagatsuki Yoru as a mother figure in his unit and favors Yoru's pudding.

Rui possesses acute perception of vocal tones, associating each unit member's voice with distinct qualities: Shun's resembles "comfortably flowing" music, Kai's evokes a "calm big ocean," You's conveys freedom and underlying kindness, Yoru's radiates "lucidity and gentleness," and Iku's feels "bright and full of spirit." His favorite foods include pudding, omurice, and egg sandwiches, though he cannot tolerate hot food.

In collaborative activities like the charity program "Switching Challenge" with Iku, Rui participates in track and field while Iku attempts piano, highlighting his willingness to tackle unfamiliar challenges. Musically, he performs solo pieces like "Close" and contributes to unit tracks such as "Tsuki no Uta." His name reflects his traits: "Minaduki" references June in the lunar calendar, and "Rui" means "tears" or "sympathy," with the kanji also reading "shizuku" (water droplet), alluding to June's rainy season. The official fanclub name "pluvia" (Latin for "rain") and hydrangea motif reinforce this seasonal theme.
