Description
Matsuzou Matsuno is the short, plump father of the sextuplet Matsuno brothers. He possesses a large nose, gopher-like buckteeth, and a curly mustache, with his hair closely shaved on the sides. He typically wears suits or casual long-sleeved tops and pants. Over adaptations, his design evolved to appear shorter and squatter.

His personality mixes stern but ineffectual parenting attempts with moments of playfulness. He often tries to impose discipline on his rowdy sons but quickly becomes overwhelmed and helpless against their antics. Professionally, he works as a salaryman facing employer pressures, compounding his home stress. Financially, he habitually misplaces or drops his work checks, triggering family crises like food shortages or forced labor for his sons. One lost check was mistakenly blamed on Iyami before recovery, while another was genuinely stolen.

Matsuzou harbors a strong affinity for the Chunichi Dragons baseball team. His relationship with wife Matsuyo involves shared struggles managing their chaotic household, though they share lighthearted moments; he once disregarded Osomatsu's request for a private room until Matsuyo intervened. Historically, he initially ran the home-based liquor shop "Mimatsuya" but abandoned it for a better-paying salaryman job after the sextuplets' birth. Their residence was later converted from the shop, though subsequent adaptations revised this, showing the couple moving directly into the house without the storefront.

Later continuations depict Matsuzou and Matsuyo as long-suffering parents of adult NEET sons, with Matsuyo expressing desires for their employment and grandchildren. His name was inconsistently documented early on; "Matsuzo" appeared once in the original manga, while a television drama adaptation erroneously called him "Matsutaro".
