Description
Souichirou Tachibana is the biological son of Mayumi Sawai and the late Keiichi Sawai, a former ace pitcher for Meisei High School whose career ended due to a hand injury. After his mother married Eisuke Tachibana, he became the stepbrother of Touma Tachibana and the elder biological brother of Otomi Tachibana. He shares a birthday with his stepbrother Touma, having been born ten minutes earlier.
He is a male teenager with black hair cut to ear length and black eyes. His family lives together with their dog, Punch.
His personality combines athleticism, intelligence, and strategic thinking, ideal for his role as a catcher. He shows a kind and overly protective nature, especially toward his sister Otomi, often insisting that Touma accompany her if she is alone. Though seemingly competitive with his stepbrother, it is hinted he may have deliberately conceded the pitcher role to Touma during a childhood game of rock-paper-scissors. Both his stepfather and baseball coach have expressed confusion over this choice, given his biological father’s legacy as a pitcher. In response to his coach, he stated, "Touma has Souichirou Tachibana when he pitches but he isn't there when I throw," suggesting a particular dynamic in their battery.
During middle school, he was known as a ladies' man, frequently dating different girls. This behavior stopped after he experienced love at first sight upon meeting Haruka Ohyama, the daughter of his baseball coach. Despite his ongoing affection, shown through regular visits to the ramen restaurant where she worked part-time, his feelings were not initially returned.
His background is deeply tied to baseball legacy. His biological father, Keiichi Sawai, was Meisei High’s ace pitcher who lost his playing career to an injury but stayed as team manager. Souichirou faintly remembers his father smiling while giving him a baseball glove. After his mother married Eisuke Tachibana, a secondary pitcher on the same Meisei team as Keiichi, the two stepbrothers joined the Meisei High School baseball team to restore its former glory.
As a catcher, his strategic mind is a major asset. He calls games and works closely with Touma, the team’s ace pitcher. Their effective battery becomes a cornerstone for Meisei High’s efforts to compete nationally.
