Clifford Chapin is an American voice actor and voice director known for his extensive work in English dubs of anime series, primarily for Funimation and Crunchyroll. Born Clifford Samuel Chapin IV on January 29, 1988, he developed an early interest in filmmaking and later graduated from Hofstra University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Film Production. Before entering voice acting, he gained production experience as an assistant on television programs such as Toddlers & Tiaras and NBC Nightly News. He made his voice acting debut in 2013 with the role of David Sawicki in the visual novel Yousei, a performance that earned him the VNs Now Award for Best Male Voice Actor of the year. Shortly after, he joined Funimation Entertainment following a recommendation from voice actor Chris Sabat.

Chapin's career advanced quickly with his first lead anime role in 2014 as Raishin Akabane in Unbreakable Machine-Doll. That same year, he began voicing Connie Springer in the monumental series Attack on Titan, a role he would continue for a decade across multiple seasons and films. In 2015, he voiced the lead character Harutora Tsuchimikado in Tokyo Ravens and Hideyoshi Nagachika in Tokyo Ghoul. A defining moment in his career arrived in 2016 when he was cast as Katsuki Bakugo in the English adaptation of My Hero Academia. The character, known for his explosive temper and intense rivalry with the protagonist, became one of Chapin's most iconic and enduring roles, spanning all seasons, several films, and numerous related specials.

Beyond his acting work, Chapin has established himself as a prolific ADR director and script adapter, contributing behind the scenes to numerous series. His directing credits include Divine Gate, Keijo!!!!!!!!, New Game!, Darling in the Franxx, SSSS.Gridman, and the second season of Dr. Stone subtitled Stone Wars. He has also served as an ADR director for the English adaptation of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, in which he also voices the character Yuuki Kagurazaka. His dual role as both performer and director showcases his comprehensive understanding of the dubbing process and has made him a valuable figure in the industry.

Chapin's voice acting portfolio is remarkably extensive, demonstrating his range across various character types. He voices the ambitious Ryusui Nanami in Dr. Stone, the loyal Siegfried Kircheis in Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These, and the protagonist Miyuki Shirogane in the third season of Kaguya-sama: Love is War -Ultra Romantic-. He has taken on antagonist roles such as Langris Vaude in Black Clover and has contributed to major franchises including Dragon Ball Super as the Saiyan warrior Cabba. His work extends into video games with notable performances such as Billy Kid in Zenless Zone Zero and Trousseau in Octopath Traveler II. In 2023, Chapin relocated from Texas to Los Angeles, California, alongside his wife, voice actress Kristen McGuire, to expand opportunities with West Coast dubbing studios like Bang Zoom! Entertainment. His marriage to McGuire, announced in 2021, has also led to on-screen collaborations, including voicing the lead roles of the Duke and Alice in The Duke of Death and His Maid. Chapin remains an active and influential presence in the anime dubbing community, frequently appearing at conventions and continuing to take on new and varied roles.
