Description
Raikō, whose real name is Minamoto no Yorimitsu, is the main protagonist of the anime Garo: Crimson Moon. He is a Makai Knight who inherits the title and armor of Garo, the Golden Knight, a role that had remained vacant for a long period before he took it up. His origins lie in a childhood tragedy: as a young boy he was attacked by a horde of Horrors and was rescued by the Makai priest Seimei, who then raised him and trained him as a Makai Knight. Because of this upbringing, his entire identity is shaped by the duty of a protector, and he dedicates his days to hunting Horrors in the capital of Heian-kyō alongside his attendant Kintoki.
In terms of personality, Raikō is shown to be somewhat impulsive and naive, particularly in the early part of the story, but he is deeply devoted to his mission as a Makai Knight.
